Ace was a little confused as to why this woman was sitting in the empty chair in front of him. Ace glanced up, his curiosity piqued by the unexpected intrusion. His gaze narrowed as he observed the woman, his expression guarded as he reached for the folder. Who is this woman? How did she receive this? Flipping it open, his eyes widened in recognition as he scanned the contents within—George's name emblazoned across the top in bold letters. As he dove deeper into the dossier, his lips curled into a sinister smile, a predatory gleam flickering in his eyes. The woman watched him closely, her own expression inscrutable as she awaited his reaction.

Nathan's POV Mason glances up from the couch, chewing his lip. He’s holding a book, of course he’s reading in the middle of this—and mutters, “You’re talking about vaginismus.” “Are you serious right now?” I snap. “You’re reading?” He shrugs, completely unfazed. “What? I’m involved. I’m listening. I’m also multitasking.” Theo laughs under his breath. “You remembered the name. So yeah, you’re qualified to weigh in.”

Without apologizing, she sprinted out of sight, and a confused Mason walked in, glancing back at her then to me with a lifted eyebrow. I shrugged in dismissal and he walked in, dropping the book on the table. “What's this?” “It's about Vladimir.” “Really?” I began to open the book. “Not, not the book. I meant, about Vladimir…” “Oh. What about him? Any new information?” I leaned closer.

I fought for words to say and just then, the door swung open and Mason walked in. "I can see that you are finally awake. You are not going to escape your training this time around." He teased and I was grateful for the distraction from whatever it was Leemah and I were discussing. The only time I saw light exuding from a book like that was when Draven gave me a book claiming I was the only one who could read it but it all happened so fast and it was weird because I didn't know what happened after I took the book from him. I only saw a bright light coming out from the book. After that, I was lost in its will and I could not feel my wolf too.

- I told him. He nodded and pulled several books out from one of the stacks and set them in front of me. I opened the top book and ran my fingers over the runes in the title. It was beautifully written as if each word was drawn with love and attention to detail. Now that I looked at it, it reminded me of a combination of Norse and Old English. Nerrian pulled his chair closer and pointed to the first word, speaking it in my mind than out loud in Draygonian. With his help, I repeated the word over and over again until I perfected it.

She asked curiously. “Let’s see.” He said as he walked closer to her while she stepped back. He backed her into a book shelf and there was just a tiny bit of space between them. “Just like the color of your lips, I want something bloody.” He said as his thumb grazes her lower lip and she shivered. She understood what he was saying, The first time she had seen Mason in the library, he was reading a crimes book so his words wasn’t surprising but does he have to say it like that? She guessed his favorite books would be thriller, particularly in the crimes sub-genre.

VEX POV The mansion feels wrong the second we step inside. Not abandoned. Not forgotten. Paused. The air still carries the faint scent of polish and old money, like the house is holding its breath, waiting for someone who’s never coming back. The lights flick on at my command, illuminating marble floors and vaulted ceilings that once watched Brynn walk these halls believing this place was her prison. Robert Mason was many things. His chauffeur, Yusuf, knows precisely the days and time, where to, what for, and for how long. Cemetery day is always the hardest for Yusuf. And Ace freaking Mason. I climbed up the narrow steps into the plane with a strange mix of nerves and confidence. My eyes scanned the cabin and found him immediately—seated by the window, legs stretched out, a glass of champagne in one hand, and— My jaw twitched. Was he seriously reading An Enemy Called Average? I blinked again to be sure. Yep. Same white -and-gold cover. John Mason, motivational guru and self-discipline king. “What’s next?” I asked, walking past him to my seat. “Chicken Soup for the Crime Lord’s Soul?”
