I said, as I led him to the bathroom that was attached to his bedroom. Once Noah was all ready for the night, I settled into his narrow single bed beside him and picked out a book from his collection. He nestled right next to me, resting his little head against my chest. I felt a tug of maternal love as I breathed in the dewy scent of him.

I wandered, letting my eyes skim across the room in small, tight, cautious sweeps. The bed was impossibly inviting. The crimson silk all smooth and glossy, black pillows stacked like they had never been touched by someone who actually slept. The scent of Noel was all around making me smile unconsciously. Noel's room wasn't large like mine and had teenage boy written all over. His room wasn't messy but it wasn't the neatest. His room was a shade of yellow and white with pictures of rock bands, girls and shadow hunter runes. He had a computer on the table close to the the window with books neatly arranged beside it. Even from my vantage point on the floor, I could see both walls were lined with books and large overstuffed chairs with fluffy cushions created the perfect reading nook. But by far the most eye-catching piece was the massive bed positioned along the back wall. It had to be custom made and I didn’t even want to contemplate what that had cost but it would easily accommodate the three of us.
