I noticed the books the moment I entered the library. So I did what she wanted me to do. I flipped the pages until I reached the second page of the book. I started reading what's on it.

She wandered up to one of the shelves and ran her fingers across the books worn spines; they smelled of dust and age. The books looked essential and historical. Nueva pulled a brow leather book from its neat row. The front cover had beautifully intricate designs etched into the aged skin, and a thin leather string locked the book's covers. She gently untied the knot and flicked through the aged yellow pages; Eira stirred inside her head. She gestures toward a massive, weathered book that seems to emanate a soft glow. I know that wasn’t here when I sat down. “Let’s start with a little history. My thumbnail found the spiral binding of the notebook and pressed into one of the metal loops, the edge of it sharp and specific against the skin, and I sat there with my thumbnail in the metal and looked at the line and did not move. Forty-two pages. The concept rationale and the type application and the color philosophy and the photography direction and the signage system and the eight pages I had rewritten three times because the first two versions were almost right and almost right was not right and I had started again each time from the true place until they became what they needed to be. If she were to stop to analyze it again, she would spend a whole day staring at the page, not reading or absorbing anything. But she couldn't help it much. The second page was equal to the first z the third as well. The fourth, the fifth to the sixth, even the twenty-seventh page was the same as the first, it frustrated her. She had passed through the corridors, endured all that litany of her mother and sisters, had to remain as calm as possible in the face of that scenario in which she did not have many memories of what would happen before the meeting with Lord Kim.
