Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

I was curious about the other book lord Jamie had requested, so I headed back inside to ask him about it. “What is that other book about?” I carefully questioned immediately when I stepped into the room. “It’s the late king’s journal.” He replied and without hesitation, I asked further why the book would be empty if it’s a journal. He chuckled lightly before he replied. “Because you need the king’s blood for the words to appear.”

Inside was a beautifully bound book. Its pages were blank. Attached was a handwritten note. "Your Majesties," "When you visited our village, you reminded us that every voice matters." "This book is a gift for your child." "May they fill its pages with their own thoughts, dreams, and discoveries." "May they always remain curious." "And may they never stop learning from the people around them." Nova carefully closed the book. "It's perfect." Kieran smiled. "Our child already has their first journal." She placed it beside the keepsake box containing their letters.

Free. Beautiful. It felt like he'd captured a moment even I didn’t know was special. The thumping of my heart was almost overwhelming. Beneath the frame lay a small leather-bound journal. My fingers brushed across its cover before opening it. The first page was handwritten, his script neat but bold: Things to know before your wolf comes. The title alone made my throat tighten. I turned the page, reading a few lines. They weren’t from a textbook. They were personal and practical.

Aiden, rummaging through a chest in the corner, muttered, “This feels like a waste of time. If there was something here, we’d have found it already.” I ignored him, running my fingers along the spines of the books. Most were dull titles on pack history and strategy, but one stood out, a journal with a faded leather cover. I pulled it free, flipping through the pages, but they were blank. Frustration was beginning to set in when something caught my eye. A faint glimmer from inside one of the desk drawers. “Wait,” I said, crouching down. “What is it?” Axel asked, abandoning his search to join me.

Cassie - After reading the first couple of sentences, I have to stop, go back and reread it carefully. I am incredibly surprised by what I am seeing written on the page. I carefully close the book, Using my finger as a bookmark so as not to lose the page Alpha wants me to read from, so that I can look at the front cover and I see it is a relatively standard, plain black-leather covered book with no image or writing on the front, but when I decide to check the spine, which is also blank, I see it is well worn, which means it has been opened and closed many times in the past. My body trembled with excitement and anticipation as I opened the door further until I saw a—book? The corner of my lips curled down in disappointment. It was just an old, dusty journal. Nothing special, like some cursed object or anything. I pulled out the journal and dusted it off. I coughed as the dust flew off. Goddess, it was in a terrible condition. How old was this book? “So, this was it?” I said and looked around. All the safe unlocking was for an old journal. Blowing some breath out of my mouth, I pushed the shelf back to its place and stacked the books back in their rows.

A familiar book for the ride back. Jeffrey leaned closer. “What are you reading?” I didn’t look up. “Philip’s Room by Raven Black.” He looked stunned. “No fucking way! For real?”

June 2040 Kara's POV: It's staring at me, like literally staring. I shouldn't have done it. Why did I take the stupid book? I hope to God he doesn't notice, but what if he does? I highly doubt that he writes in a diary every day. But then again, I shouldn't assume. I'm tempted to read it. I should read it, or else what the hell was the point in taking it? It's a thick black leather book. It looks somewhat worn, but largely unused. It's probably just filled with gaming or sports stuff.

I don't know if it was my conscious decision but even after all the sirens that went off in my brain, I deafeaned myself to those rings as I walked in the direction of those books. My hand hesitantly reached out to touch the open book, feeling the rough texture of the leather cover under my fingertips. As I flipped through the pages, my heart started racing, my mind trying to process the words written on the pages. It was a journal. A journal filled with beautiful cursive handwriting. I filled to the last page of the journal as my hand traced over the writing longingly.
