She asks she with crossed arms I guess she's right. "My name is Hanna" I decide to tell her as I give in "Hanna Wilder" she says my name which causes my body to feel tingly all over Whoa. What was that? I stand up straighter to try and hide this feeling. My ex-boyfriend never made me feel like that. "Pretty name" she says as she tucks a strand of her black hair behind her ear Her eyes never stray away from mine as she does so.

“I don’t know. Daddy says they protect the city, but I don’t see how. They never do anything.” My finger stopped on a worn out book. The faded writing on the spine said Beasts Of The Wild. I pulled it out and flipped it open in the middle. There was a drawing of a yeti-looking creature called a yowg. The description gave details of height, size and hair colour. Dietary information and habitats were also included. I flicked through more pages and found more creatures, some of which I was familiar with. The names, at least. Unfortunately, the book wasn’t organised into alphabetical order, so I had to search a number of pages before I found what I was looking for: Mouse King.

Chapter 1 Into the Wild The crunch of gravel under my tires faded as I pulled into the remote trailhead parking lot, the last vestige of civilization disappearing behind me. Wild got a new read today. The Incredible Journey is what it was called, and it was the story of two dogs and a cat trying to go home to their humans by crossing the Himalayan mountains. They faced many dangers and hardships, but eventually, they got home. It was a heartwarming story that Wild enjoyed while he waited for Elaine and Jon to get back to the facility. It was nothing like Call of the Wild or White Fang, but the kinship was much appreciated, so he liked it. It reminded him of his own kin that he was going to save, one way or another.

Eli’s voice was a low rumble against my skin as he stood and began to unfasten his own scrubs. I nodded, my breath hitching in my throat. Searching the room, I found a sill by a small window, and made myself comfortable in the spot. I turned the cover and lost myself in the magical world called books.
