“Mia! I got us the good seats… back row, aisle, so we can escape if it sucks.”
You gotta be kidding. “That's so sweet of you.” I hugged her tight, hiding the guilt in my eyes. That was the same spot her boyfriend marked for our escapades. She smelled like vanilla body spray and strawberry lip gloss. Familiar. Safe. Everything I was about to betray again.
We grabbed popcorn, sodas, and sour gummies. Settled into the back row just as the lights dimmed for previews. Theatre was half-full, mostly couples, and a few groups of friends. No one paid us any attention.
