The letter came on a Tuesday morning. Lihua never liked Tuesdays because she felt it was the day when the universe liked to shake things up, right when you finally had your week steady. It wore the Tiancang Sect’s vermillion crane—wings wide, painted with that almost arrogant elegance that only people wielding real power ever bother with. And it had both their names there on the front. No pretending this was just for him.

“The Hall has recognized the Twelve Guardians.” ⸻ A deep chime echoed through the chamber. One by one, the twelve locks clicked open. No one had touched them. The case slowly opened by itself. Inside rested twelve leather-bound journals. Each bore a different emblem burned into the cover. A raven. A lion. A sparrow. A crown. And eight more symbols Amelia had never seen before. Lying across the journals was a single folded letter sealed with dark blue wax. The seal had already cracked with age.

“Excuse me, sir? Will you be checking any of these books out?” He tilted his head at her in confusion. He had reserved no books. The robrarian expected his question and spoke once more. “Your friend with the tail thought you would need these.” She showed him the different titles. The Lust Chronicles, I Am What I Am Accept It, My Lycanthrope Lover, How Not To Be An Asshole, and more. He nodded his head in understanding. She was a cheeky person when she wanted to be. He liked that.

Penelope…it read. There is a book within Ironclad's library, black cover, crest in silver. It holds what you must know about who you are, about the blood that sets you apart as the twelfth wolf. Find it. When you do, I will explain everything. Until then, trust no one. Not even those who claim to love you. -Father

The poor man said. "Then find it." Alpha Clark started looking rather homicidal. The librarian got to work as he needed no further push from what I could tell as he spread open the book and soon, he went close to the Alpha and handed him the book. "There. Passage twelve counts one hundred and twelve." He said to Alpha Clark. The Alpha was momentarily engrossed by what he was reading and then looked up at Professor Derrick. "You were right." He said to Professor Derrick. "I knew that already. Well?" He asked Alpha Clark.

Hell, maybe he could even get his own spinoff. Leah flitted off to work with an extra cinnamon roll, and I was left alone in the apartment. It was still morning yet, so I had time to kill. I elected to curl up on the couch with one of the lycan books Blair sent with me. It was unusual to get a book from Blair that was not old, leather bound, and smelled of dust and aged paper. This one was the most interesting by far because it was a paperback that looked to be written within the past decade or so. It looked too… normal. It had a publishing date and everything.

While you can read this book on its own, I strongly recommend reading Book One first for a clearer understanding of the characters, relationships, history, and events that have already taken place. I sigh, finally finding the strength walk up the stairs. I get into my room and lock the door. Soon as I do, I lean back against on the wood. Somehow, I’ve just managed to betray the only person who has ever truly looked out for me, all because of a man who is currently plotting to make my life miserable. I pull Noel’s jersey out of my bag and stare at the number twenty-three. It still smells like him. What a mistake. I think of burning it before it gets me in trouble. Or maybe throwing it out. Instead, foolish me hugs it to my chest and sinks onto the floor.

Enzo is just happy to have all his ‘brothers’ The night air was sharp with sea salt and memory, Enzo stood at the edge of the pier, hands in his coat pockets, watching the shadows dance across the warehouse district.
