But the book was too vague, and since the whole thing went up in smoke almost one-hundred-fifty years ago, it was hardly something he could check. Anyway, as far as he knew, every Victorian medium, psychic, producer of ectoplasm, or seer of fairies, had been proved a fake.

I was beyond confused now; what did an old book have to do with Clarissa? "You guys have no idea what this is, do you?" We shook our heads, waiting for Alyssa to explain. "It's a grimoire of supernatural creatures. The book was written by the Fae elders and told everything there is to know about every supernatural creature in existence... including how to kill them."

She began. For the first time, fear flashed in Sandra's eyes. "Wh-- What is going on, Mena?" "Oh, it's nothing to be scared of, please trust me, okay?" She rushed to reassure her friend. "O-Okay." Sandra still looked unconvinced. "Good. Do you remember those novels you like to read? Those ones where men turn into werewolves, vampires, and all those kinds of stuff?" "You mean my paranormal books? How can I ever forget about them? I have two in my bag as we speak." She paused, "But, what has that got to do with anything?"

I quickly come across a book on bonds, but it takes me ages to find one about demons. I search through every book and shelf until, finally, at the very top, I spot a small, extremely dusty book. Although it doesn’t explicitly say “demons,” its title, “Monsters of Our World,” is the closest I can find.

Better than nothing. I go out into the library, hunting through the rows of books for metaphysical and wraiths. There would be more information at Hallowhaven Academy, but there isn't enough time to go all the way there and back. Besides, I'm worried that Decan or Walsh will catch me and refuse to let me leave again. With a pile of books, I head to an empty table in the back. The first two books were all about chakras and reiki. Next three books were about sacred space, Wicca, and a fiction book about ghost hunters that had been re-shelved wrong.

A hefty stack was piled in one arm by the time I’d finished—for now—and I narrowed my selection down to three. No pleasure reading this time, I was on a mission. One was a text on abnormal supernatural biology. Another covered the mythology of chimeras, strange creatures featuring numerous animal and human parts. The last was a history of dark witches. After stashing the remaining books on a side table, I climbed back up to the third floor and eased into the hall. The corridor was empty and quiet except for… Was that music?

I continue to read and try to understand the knowledge before me. I decide to pack these books and I go back for others. I grab several jars of herbs and such too. Several crystals who's importance I read. I grab a book on banshees, and another old book with marker on it's spine. It's so old the original print has faded. Incubi, succubi and demons. I drag it back to the room excited to crack it open.

I apologize that this book is really short with less than 30k words in all. I plan to edit it at some point and make it better. I figured that a really long Horror book might be less interesting and would just seem drawn out. I've not read a lot of them but I watch horror movies so I wrote this like I would picture an Horror movie. I appreciate all those who stuck with me and read Reincarnation regardless. Thank you all.
