Books That Are Read To You Novels & Stories

Ashley's POV I walked over to the reading corner in the orphanage and picked up a brightly colored picture book. Its pages were filled with cute animals and simple drawings—the kind of content the kids could easily follow. I lowered myself onto the floor on the other side of the group. "Hey, kids," I said softly, a smile warming my voice. A few of them turned toward me. I opened the book and began reading in a relaxed, natural tone. "Once upon a time, there was a little bunny who absolutely loved carrots."

She had downloaded a lot of e-books for children. When she first came back to Coastrock, she had a problem with insomnia, and it was the children's storybooks that lullabied her to sleep most of the time. All the storybooks that she listened to were Caprice’s favorites. The voice that read the storybook sounded gentle and expressive. Caprice fell asleep after listening to the stories for a while, and even Sherry started yawning. She got up with Caprice and headed to the room. John was standing by the wall, leaning against it. His hands crossed as he casually looked at her with a gentle gaze. It was as though they were intimate.

She replied, shrugging and moved her attention to her book. “King? Palace? Do you even know what you are talking?” I asked her shaking my head and walked near to the cupboard for the first aid box. “It is nothing! I started reading some pregnancy books and saw that after a few months, I have to read some good children’s stories for the baby when it is in the womb itself. I was never a fan of them, so I am trying to read them now to get used to them.” She explained and sighed at the end.

He asked me, calling me out. I admitted it completely with a shake of my head. “Afraid not. Whatever it was, you’re gonna have to repeat it.” I answered as I closed my eyes and shook my head again to clear it. He took my hand in his, causing my heart to turn another somersault, both with excitement and confusion. He took the books in his other hand and placed them in my hand that he was holding and closed my fingers around them. “I said that I found some books still in my book case that Nonna used to read to me at bedtime and thought you might read one of them to Nate tonight.”

The woman climbed a short ladder and began pulling down a few books. “These should help,” she said, setting five large, dusty tomes on a nearby table. “Sorry about the condition they’re ancient. Let me know if you need anything.” “Thank you,” Anna said as the woman walked away. Rhea and Anna sat cross-legged on the floor beside the table, surrounded by the stack of heavy books. Their covers were worn, their spines cracked, and the pages yellowed with time. Each had a unique title: 'Tales of the Mystical Creatures', 'Powers', 'Hidden Behind the Voice', and two others with faded letters too difficult to read.

I walk towards my mini-library I have in my room and I bring out a book, it's been a while since I got lost in one of these fantasies. I take one out, I use my hand to trace the Braille, this was my favourite book. The Princess Diaries, I remember always reading this, I made my father read it to me when I was little as well, I remember Pretty Little Liars, I overheard someone talking about it, and when I joined in their convo, they were talking about the movie, I only read the book, funny how most people don't know that most of these movies and series were based on books, and yes these books are re written in Braille so blind people like myself can also read it.

My body sliding down to the floor as I sit on the floor, my back resting on it and somehow, I can tell he is doing the same. After some minutes, I see a book slide under the door, a favorite book of mine as I pick it, his voice saying from the other side of the door "Read to me" Read to me. Just like how he always asks me to. I want to not read, I want to tell him to go away. I know he does not ever listen and actually understand what I say, but he still keeps asking me to read. So I do that. I pick the book, my hands trembling as I flip open a page, my eyes landing on the it as I begin to read "Ben h-has to learn about s-surviving on h-his own.
