The Alpha's Babysitter

The Alpha's Babysitter

Her work at the local bookstore, once a mundane routine, now felt infused with a sense of meaning. She found herself drawn to the poetry section, her fingers tracing the spines of books she had never explored before. She discovered the delicate beauty of Emily Dickinson's words, the raw emotion of Sylvia Plath's verse, and the lyrical prose of Langston Hughes. Each poem, a window into a different soul, resonated with her own experiences, her own struggles and triumphs.

Another side of Her

Another side of Her

I needed to cut her off. "Look, they're doing the walking around the fire thing." She said. I hummed non committal. "I read about it in this book by Drethi Anis. Five thousand nights of obsession. The book was so good." "You read?" I asked. I had never seen any book in her apartment or caught her with a book. "Yes." She blushed, then quietly. "Romance books." "You don't strike me as the romance type." I looked at her intently. "Is it one of those raunchy books with shirtless men carrying scabbards on the cover."

The Beautiful Lie

The Beautiful Lie

here I was drowning myself in self-pity. What was worse was the fact that my fiance had severely injured my mother over something that could have been handled by the authorities which now was something I could no longer use due to my fiance being the center of the damage control that was to take place if the police were to be involved. From floating on air to crashing face first into the sidewalk of misfortune I found myself lost/confused and hurt beyond measure from all of those I once held close to my heart. I felt alone and confused about what I should do next with José, would I forgive him for what he has done? Could I ever forgive her or him...was I capable of being sympathetic to eith

Tuberose

Tuberose

He had barely known the author before her book became an unexpected turning point in his life, and now, he couldn't help but be fascinated by her talent and the profound impact her work had on his business. With each turn of the page, Michael felt his heart swell with a renewed sense of purpose. Tuberose's prose painted vivid scenes that brought the characters to life, immersing him in their struggles, triumphs, and most importantly, their love. The book seemed to have a magical quality, as if Tuberose had taken fragments of his own story and intertwined them with her poetic imagination.

Jane Chunli
Nice story so far. Keep it up author but I think author should improve in her tenses and grammar. The story is nice one, I like the way she gave glimpses of what would happen in the story in the future. Nice book and story line author, keep it up. But Michael seemed pompous for my liking.

The story is great, the way you portrayed how your closed one (best friend ) can turn into a foe with time, how in one second everything changes and it hurts when you know you are right but no one trusts you. Well done btw, good luck

The Tyrant alpha

The Tyrant alpha

I can’t explain it, but I don’t have to, either, if I don’t bring it up, and I’m not one to ever start conversations. I sniff the paperback—old, musty paper, glue, and Justus—and set it on the pallet. The next book in the pile, Peter Kropotkin’s The Conquest of Bread, has a picture of two men chopping down a tree on the cover. It smells the same. All the books are dog-eared paperbacks with yellowed pages—Walden by Henry David Thoreau, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, Critique of Practical Reason by Immanuel Kant, several each by Ursula K. Le Guin and N. K. Jemison, and a massive hardback of Plato’s collected works. The Plato is the only one that looks like it hasn’t been read a hundre

ALPHA'S CAGED BRIDE

ALPHA'S CAGED BRIDE

After that he stood and left me in the room. Now barely an hour later he sends me a trunk full of books. Ella moved to stand behind me and I could hear her sharp intake of breath when her eyes landed on the books. "They're beautiful, right?" Ella only nodded her head and leaned down to touch the spines of one of the books. They weren't really books to be precise, well they were books but not really big ones, almost like journals, just bigger and fresher. The covers were embossed in a beautiful flower pattern, each color having a flower of its corresponding color on it.

The Rogue's Winter Revenge

The Rogue's Winter Revenge

I turn on the propane heater and sit down to try and read. The book I grab is a murder mystery and before I know it I am sucked in and can't stop flipping the pages. These are the best kinds of books, where you just can't put it down. I am almost to the climax of the book when I yawn and really need to use the bathroom. I set my book down and stretch out a little over dramatically like a cat after an afternoon nap. The view is so pretty from our balcony. I can see the tree line and the way the snow is falling is so peaceful. I love our new room.

Chosen By The Don

Chosen By The Don

The arrival had a different quality entirely. The book was lean. Precise. Every sentence earns its place. Sofia had stripped out everything that didn't belong and what remained was the pure essential thing — the interior experience of return, written with the particular authority of someone who had lived it and had taken the time to understand what they had lived before writing a single word about it.

Mine to Keep

Mine to Keep

Alie The invitation says Conversation on Story: Building Worlds for Real Life which is the kind of title that makes you feel smart while you drink tea out of a paper cup and pretend the folding chair isn’t a folding chair. The bookstore is small, all honeyed wood and lamps that try to be kind. Someone strung twinkle lights between nonfiction and essays, like stars got cozy in the ceiling.
