Men in blue uniforms bustled around quietly like ants, unloading crates and boxes that overflowed the counters and corners.
Labels whizzed as they passed her: imported spices, glass bottles of oils, crates of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats packed in ice, flour sacks, wines, grains.
Kitchen essentials were all over the place, too: blenders, mixers, gleaming pans, and knives cradled in velvet cases like they were jewelry.
And then she saw the books.
