At first I was confused as to why we were at the bookshelf but he suddenly inputs his passcode on a keypad at the wall and a door opens up in the middle of the bookshelf. I walked further in and books piled up on the floors because of the cramped space on the shelves were too full. There was a love seat next to a window at the end of the room. Call ended. I placed the phone down and turned to the far corner of my room. My fingers curled around the spine of an old leather book — Feral Decay, it read. Fitting. I tilted it. Click. A mechanical hum stirred to life. The wall trembled — then split open. Cool air rushed out. I stepped inside. The room beyond was bathed in soft red light. The walls, lined with shadows and secrets. In the center stood a queen-sized bed, draped in black silk. Cuffs hung from its corners. Straps. Whips. Tools of command — untouched, unused... until now.

It made me see the door that led into the bathroom and a big bookshelf I had missed earlier. “I want to show you something.” He gestured for me to follow him as he walked over to the bookshelf. I frowned when he pulled a specific book a few inches out of its spot and a click filled the room. He glanced at me, and then pulled the shelf away from the wall, revealing a secret room. “A nest if you ever need one.” “I won’t,” I replied. But curiosity had me moving past him into the room. There were no windows. A big canopy bed occupied the center of the room. Thick purple curtains surrounded the bed which was covered with different size pillows.

Bruno said under his breath, his thought as good as mind.
