Inside the Archive, the shelves moved with my breath. I passed by a book bound in velvet dusk. Its title: The First Time You Chose Softness Over Safety. Another: How You Loved When No One Was Looking. I reached for a third. It burned with light before revealing its name: What You Became When You Stopped Trying to Be Understood. I wept then—not from pain, but from reunion. The guide touched my shoulder. “There’s one more,” they said. They led me to a door I hadn’t noticed.

I stopped at the library door and smiled to myself. ‘Books are better than people. Books don’t hate on you for something you didn’t do.’ I pushed the door open and breathed in the wonderful smell of books. ‘Paradise.’ I strolled to the shelves and scanned through the books, reading their names off their spines. ‘It seems Dante wasn’t joking when he said half of his library was filled horrors.’ A book caught my eye, and I pulled it from the others. “Bone and Souls by B. Brian.” I read the name aloud and skimmed through the description behind it. “This seems interesting.”

If he's going to say that it's not a big deal, I am going to exit his office without any hesitations at all. "And what about me crying over a book?" I raised one of my eyebrows at him as my attitude thickens. I'm not accepting negative remarks from someone who's probably not well-informed that books carry more than just a story that originated from the author's creative mind. Books also carry emotions that sometimes makes you cry due to many reasons. One of them is maybe because you went through an experience that a character is going through as you read. "Nothing. Wiping my tears, I tried to fix my book myself, but one thing I am sure of it would never remain as it was.

It was cluttered with books and materials of all sorts. Several opened books were scattered on the computer table, with red marks and notes scrawled across the pages. Someone had been studying very hard there. Nathan slowly walked over and flipped through the books. Psychology? He frowned as he took in the room. He saw a lot of books on the shelf that didn't belong to him. His gaze was locked on the titles. "Best Ways to Handle Toxic People". "The Key to Overcoming Nasty People" "Foundations of Psychology" Nathan's lips curled slightly as a smirk played on his face.

It's really annoying, with so many things I can forget why my book is still there. At 11pm, after eating dinner I went up to my room again. I still can't move on from the book I left behind. My Mom noticed earlier that I looked sad so I told her the reason and she said that I shouldn't be sad because she will buy me a new one. But how? Based on the publishing company announcement there will be no second batch for that book. Haysst. It’s really annoying.
