He was standing in the middle of what I assumed was a lobby area and as I looked around, I saw shelves upon shelves of books. The wall to my right and directly ahead were lined with shelves, the shelves looked like they curled inwards in a Greek key type shape toward the centre of the room. The wall to my left was the giant glass window. In front of this window was a wooden staircase leading up to a viewing gallery of sorts upon which small individual desks had been set. It made sense to make use of what light was present naturally. I bit my lip momentarily, worrying that books and candles do not make good bedfellows. Each section was clearly labelled, handwritten in black ink on what looked like old parchment, and I let my fingers brush over the top of the smooth stones as I passed. There were shelves on every wall, stacked high with books: some looked old and worn, whilst others looked like new-age literature, freshly printed with glossy, colourful covers. There were wall hangings of all different shapes and sizes, some with chakras on, some with celestial patterns, and others with abstract shapes and sewn in earthy colours. I wondered if this was where Aradia had found my wall hanging, and the thought of her in here, shopping for me, made my heart swell.

As gorgeous as it all was, Elaina found herself going farther, to the end of the room, to a section of books that looked terribly old and for some odd reason appeared the most interesting. There were leather chairs in this part of the room as well, single high-backed ones the color of rich caramel. Reaching out, she let her fingers brush lightly over the tattered spines of a couple books, stopping as if by no control of her own on one. The name TREKAS was printed in letters so worn she could barely see them all. Elaina pulled that one from the shelf without a moment’s hesitation. Before opening it, as if knowing already that this was going to take some time, she’d backed up until she sank in
