There was one solitary, big book on a low table between them. "The title of the tale is The Binding of Autumn," he began, his voice an entrancing whisper just in harmony with the shriek of the fire. “It's the tale of a harvest god who offers a mortal woman a choice: one night of absolute freedom for one year of unimaginable riches for her people." He didn't move as his eyes met hers. "The consent is the matter at hand. It must be freely bestowed, not coerced, and whispered three times into the skin of his throat." “Do you have any idea what sort of story you're going to be reading me tonight?”

He looked away as they both sipped their wine until she was out of the room. Bill digged in first. “You’ve been busy,” Ethan started. “Moving into spaces that were already occupied.” Benson didn’t flinch. He only chuckled. “Actually, partaining to this....I've been anticipating your call. Business doesn’t work on reservations, Reed.” “No,” Ethan agreed. “But it does work on awareness.” That made Benson tilt his head just a little. “Is that what this is?” he asked. “A warning?” Ethan shook his head once. “No.”

Since she couldn’t fall asleep anyway, she decided to play mobile games to cure her insomnia. A familiar tune rang when she opened the gaming app, but she instantly felt bored. On second thought, all mobile games were boring. Day after day, their tasks were the same; Heather was dissatisfied that these games had no storyline at all. Despite that, she went online every single day to complete the daily tasks. It looked particularly boring, and it felt like it was a single-player game. She didn’t like completing the tasks as a team, so she played by herself. Nonetheless, it was enough for her. As long as she could pass time and eventually fall asleep, she didn’t expect much from this game.

Mrs. Lilian, who had earlier made up an excuse of being emotionally stressed, soon found herself growing restless. After spending a few minutes alone, she became bored. She had tried a couple of activities she usually found fun—reading a magazine, scrolling through her phone, even arranging her jewelry—but none of them held her interest. Nothing seemed to capture her attention or lift her mood. Her thoughts kept drifting back to the company, her son Wilson, and the unsettling news swirling around the Palma family.

I shouldn't care though because I have always been a loner. I get up and go fix myself something to eat and head back to my room. I turn on the radio and listen to music while I am eating. When I finished eating I put a movie in and try to get into it so I can try and forget about how bored I am. 3 movies later and I am still bored and there is nothing to do. My father is on his computer chatting away with women from different states. I walk into the living room and tell him I am bored. I ask if we can go out and do something but like always I get not right now. I told him I was bored and he looks at me and says,

I sat with my back on the headboard while Aiden and Abby lay on either side of me, with their heads leaning against me as I told them as much as I could remember from one of the bedtime stories Celine and I were usually forced to sit through back at the foster home. We always found it boring and would be among the first kids to do off before she even read two lines from the story, the other kids would fall closely behind, it was that dreadful. But tonight, the kids found my old, half-complete, gap-filled story fascinating enough to listen to as I tried to lull them to sleep.

The night felt far longer than usual. I lay in my room, utterly consumed by a profound sense of boredom. To pass the time, I began fiddling with my phone, opening a folder in my cloud storage that contained drafts for an advertising competition proposal. I had been intentionally designing an ad concept with a humorous storyline. My theory was that a touch of humor could make a struggling product much more appealing to the masses. "This looks good enough. Should I ask for Jovanca’s opinion tomorrow? Ah, whatever, tomorrow it is," I murmured softly.

She asked with a grin in his direction. "Better," he laughed. One time he had helped her in arranging the entire library with his magick. She was impressed. "Mama Bora, you look as beautiful as ever. I - I have a favor to ask." When he stopped, she waved her spongy, withered hands at him in a gesture to go on, "We are doing a project about local lore, myths and legends. Do you have any book suggestions on it? Especially something that talks about with nightmares or dreams?" He sounded too vague even to himself, but Mama Bora's eyes became dazed for a second and then clearer as she nodded to herself. "Also one about shapeshifters."

“Oh. You know it doesn't sound bad because you're narrating it to me but trust me the moment I pick that book it's going to be a bore.” “You know what, forget it, just stick to your romance. Leave us boring people to our folklore.” I said I will both let out a hearty chuckle.

Nothing eventful happens over the next few days besides boredom. There are only so many spots on the wall to count and the books they've left me to read are depressing novels that do nothing but put me to sleep. I've requested a meeting with the president about my inactivity and haven't heard back.
