This is his first night as a Delta Guard. Finally, a part of the pack and not just a litter pup. He runs through the woods, feeling the tree branches snap as he passes them by. I was born to be a wolf, to be wild and free. I looked around the forest, everything was so clear and in focus. I couldn’t stand still anymore, so I started to run. I tried to think of other things besides the Cosa Nostra. I often wondered what my life would have been if I wasn’t born in the Cosa Nostra. I walked over to the sofa near the window and I sat down. I could’ve lived a normal life; far from all the disaster and the hate. When I was about to be married to Primo, I thought about escaping and moving to another country. I could get a job and live my life normally. But I realized that I wouldn’t survive in the real world. I wanted too much but knew too little of what was before me. I think it’s for the best that I was born as part of the mafia. If you learn to live with what you have, you’ll start to think that it’s not all that bad.

Writer's POV She ran as fast as her four legs could carry her, up until she got to the city. One would probably think that she always runs, with the way that I always introduce her, but in fact, she does run, she has been running, ever since she was born. Running to a certain destination, or to a goal, or to a purpose, or away from the traumatic life that preceded her horrific sixteenth birthday. She was brought up to be the best in all she did, that was why her mother had insisted on training her cruelly no matter how much it broke her heart.
