Better Than Before Lynn Painter Novels & Stories

But at least it has a window. ‘With a view?’ Ann asked. In the background Lynne heard baby Mandy fussing. ‘A view of a perfectly gorgeous gray concrete wall,’ Lynne said. ‘I’m hoping some enterprising artist will paint a beautiful scene on it, but I’m not holding my breath.’ She laughed. ‘Even some graffiti would be an improvement, but unless it was so innocuous as to be totally uninteresting, I’m sure Cliff Foreman would personally paint over it. He’s as bad as you are, Tay, in thinking I need to be “‘looked after”’.’

Luna told me. I hurried outside and met Lynn, looking the prettiest that she ever has. “It’s your day,” I told her and she nodded. “It’s going to be my best.”

Others laughed as they also spoke, “Yeah, Vince. She is so famous; how could we not recognize her?” “But why do I have a feeling that she looks more beautiful in person than she does on camera?” “That is for sure. Some people are naturally beautiful that even cameras can’t do them justice.” “Yes, you are definitely right.” Every mention of how Lynn was a top pianist was like a stab in Emmy’s heart. She had no choice but to bear it since at the moment, she was Lynn Sharma. And for tonight, she had specifically instructed the makeup artist to make her look like Lynn. They already looked so much alike and unless someone was very familiar with them, they would not know they her and Lynn were two

K.I. Lynn is the USA Today Bestselling Author from The Bend Anthology and the Amazon Bestsellers, Breach and Becoming Mrs Lockwood. She spent her life in the arts, everything from music to painting and ceramics, then to writing. But it doesn’t mean I don’t get curious. Lynn gives me a truimphant grin. I exhale, “You have no idea how hard it was to convince him to do this.” I gesture to my exposed chest. “You said he kissed you first.” I roll my eyes, “And then he pretended it didn’t happen.” “You have shit taste in men.” Lynn deadpans. I nod, then let out a shaky breath. “Getting anything more is nothing short of a miracle. I don’t have hopes for more. I’m satisfied with the way things are.”

I couldn’t fall apart now. Lynn brushed past me, her perfume sickly sweet, her voice a dagger dipped in honey. She leaned closely, whispering where only I could hear: “I won again.”

Hook, line, and I*******m story. Except—of course—his attention wasn’t on them. It was thirty feet to the right. His eyes were locked on the forbidden zone: the Pastor’s house. There she was. Lynn, daughter of Pastor Timon and resident queen of “perfect girl in the neighborhood.” She was kneeling in her flower bed, hands deep in the dirt, as if trying to erase weeds from existence—or maybe herself. Unlike the neon parade on the sidewalk, Lynn looked like she’d stepped straight out of a period drama: modest high-collared dress, hair pinned back neatly, moving with this kind of rigid focus that could probably give a statue an inferiority complex.

Lynn repeats sarcastically while chuckling. I stare at her like I could pluck out her eyeballs and she comports herself. “Say it to him before you cut a call next time, or ohhh, during sex, you get to hear him say it out in moans, ughh, the moments I live for!” “Eww Lynn, just ew. How am I even friends with you?” “Oh common, I'm the best.” “Of course you are. Speaking of nice things Bryan has done for me...” I lift the locket on my neck for Lynn to see, with a grin on my face. She touches it and opens it with a mouth wide open.

“Don’t start again, Erezhul.” Lynn looked between the two of them, the unease growing quietly behind her smile. Time to use her charms. “You know,” Lynn said with a soft laugh, her voice smooth like honey, “you’re quite bold and very handsome. I’ve always admired such confidence in a man.” Erezhul slowly turned to face her again, his expression unreadable. He didn’t say anything, just watched her calmly. “I’m sure Liora didn’t tell you," Lynn continued, stepping a bit closer, her fingers lightly brushing the gold trim on her dress, "but we’re twins. I am very gentle and some say I’m the prettier one.”
