Ross smiled gently at him, her big blue eyes seeming to want to say more than her mouth was letting on.
“Better,” Sebastian said and stood up from the table, walked past her and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. An automatic kiss, no warmth.
She returned it, holding his face for a second longer, trying to feel any trace of passion. But there was none. It was like kissing a statue.
“See you later,” he said, already grabbing his blazer and leaving.
“Have a great day,” Ross heard herself wish.
The door slammed. Ross stood there, staring at the plate, the cold egg, her heart even colder.
