Layla's POV Christmas Eve arrived, and Alex transformed our penthouse into a winter wonderland. A majestic tree stood tall, adorned with sparkling ornaments and garlands. Soft candlelight illuminated the room, casting a warm glow. It felt heavenly! Alex took my hand, leading me to the balcony overlooking the glittering city. “Merry Christmas, Layla,” he whispered, his eyes shining. “Merry Christmas to you too, Baby.” I smiled. Below, a private orchestra played festive melodies.

Tonight is the Winter Anniversary. “I’m fine, Dom. Stop hovering and go have fun.” I swat his hand away from my shoulder. “Go be the star. I’m just here for the free champagne and to make sure you don’t do anything stupid before the big game.” He gives me that lopsided, boyish grin that has half the city swooning. “No promises.” I watch as he scans the room. This isn’t an official league party. It is the commemorative bash before the final showdown of the year. The calm before the bloodbath on the ice.

They froze. Snow fell around them. Her hair brushed his jaw. His hands were on her waist. “You’re heavy,” he said. “You’re lying,” she shot back. For a heartbeat, everything else disappeared. Then— “DAAAADDYYYY!” Noelle slid into them like a missile. Sebastian groaned. Nyra burst out laughing. “This,” Nyra said between laughs, “is the best Christmas I’ve had in years.” Sebastian stood, brushing snow off. “You’re enjoying this far too much.”

Brayan asks, his big round eyes widening as he pleads, and there’s no way I’m saying no to that. “Fine,” I tell him. This is the last of the Christmas decor anyway, so he can get to put it up. I hand him the flower, pick him up to give him some added height, and I direct him to hang the mistletoe over the door knocker. “WOW! It’s so nice and pretty. This is where kisses happen right?” Brayan asks innocently, and I nod. He turns to face me, malice glinting in his baby eyes, and already knowing that he’s about to ask when I’ll kiss a girl here, I attack him with a ton of kisses. Since he’s in my arms, there’s really nothing else for him to do other than twist in my grasp.
