It was past eight at night on Christmas eve. Tasha, Grant, along with Tyson arrived in Sandville late afternoon for Christmas. Tasha, Grant, her father and her mother were watching a Christmas carol on the TV with cups of her mother's homemade hot apple cider drinks in their hands. The Christmas tree was blinking cheerfully in a corner. She planned to sneak back into the living room later, after everyone might have retired, to add the presents she and Grant brought with them. Tyson had gone to her brother's house so that he could be with his cousins.

Hi, my name is Macey. I'm seventeen although I am a short stack of pancakes four eleven to be specific. Today is the last day of highschool. You don't know how happy I am to be getting out of this shit hole of a school, but first I have to make it threw this day if I can of course. I twist and turn in my bed ignoring the alarm that's going off. '' Macey get up, you have school and if you miss that bus I promise you you'll be missing too!''

Bryar walked into the room and Blakeley hurriedly took the paper from Bryan and hid it. “What is going on?” She asked and Bryan didn't give a response, he looked at Blakeley one last time before walking out of the room. “What was that about?” Bryar asked and Blakeley smiled. “Nothing. Ignore him. What do you need dear?” Blakeley asked and Bryar smiled. “I was watching the television now and an advert popped up. It was a clothing brand and they have cute outfits for children. I want one.” She said and Blakeley nodded.

Christmas morning Ryan had Tally sitting beside him in the lounge room as his parents started opening gifts. Ryan’s arm rested along the back of the sofa, his thumb rubbing up and down her arm. Ryan had left the gift buying to her for his parents. What did you buy for rich people who had everything? He had been no help when she had asked him for ideas. Men. Tally bit her lip. Now it was Christmas Day. She wasn’t so sure of her gift choices for his parents.

We reached the mansion and watched the decoration from outside; anyone could feel the festive aura emitting behind those doors would be cheerful. Trevor took out the wheelchair, and Ruben helped Raya to settle into her cart. She held my hand, and I knew she was getting uncomfortable with the judging peer from children her age. I gave a soft squeeze on her hand, reminding her she was a strong girl who came to enjoy her Christmas here. That thinned smile thickened as we headed inside. “Welcome,” Kathrine hugged Ruben. “Merry Christmas,” she wished Raya and gave her a tight hug.

Loriany can spend Christmas with her husband and son, although she is the head of the pediatric department and therefore my boss, she is a great friend, and on her days off I cover for her. It was in Atlanta that I would be right now if I hadn't been convinced by Allan to come and see his house and go to that party yesterday, when he heard the word party, Bryan quickly got excited to come along, he said that there was nothing like a party and a lot of women to start a new year well, and since Charles didn't want to go to his family's house in Nashville, he came with us too.

“Lacey, open your gift. You got the perfect soundtrack for it.” Lacey laughed. “All right. Since you asked, but I wouldn’t do it for anyone else.” Brad chuckled as he squeezed her shoulders. “Good, that’s what I like to hear.” Lacey lifted the top of the gift box as the carolers continued to sing. Brad looked over his shoulder at Santa who was doing what he had to do. “The box is from Gabriel’s,” she noted as she took it out the gift box. “At least Santa isn’t cheap,” Brad said with a smirk and looked over his shoulder. He saw several of his family members looking dazed, confused, and all out awestruck including Leo. Their little brother wasn’t in on the plot.

He was standing there in a plain sweater and jacket with his hands in his pockets and an open yet guarded look on his face. “Merry Christmas,” he said. She smiled. “Merry Christmas.” Neither of them moved for a moment. Then Bryan cleared his throat from the living room, very loudly. “We’ll be on the second floor, Perry called. “Not listening.” “Uh uh, not listening!” Bryan echoed. Tyler’s voice followed, quieter.“Have fun.” Peter chuckled under his breath. “Your children are terrifying.”

Riley looks past me and checks out the clock but he only smiles when he sees the time not bothered in the slightest as he turns his attention back to the little girl in his lap. “So it's Christmas day and your birthday?” He asks her causing her to nod as her little body bounces with excitement. "Oh, well in that case Mommy, do you think we should go and see if Santa has been? Maybe we may even find some birthday presents." Riley asks me while looking at Nina and loving her reaction. "Yes, peas!" She shouts.

“Change.” My brows scrunch. “What?” He sets the shopping bag down slowly like they were fragile before leaning against the edge of my table and damn....he looks so good. “You’re my plus one, Kratoska.” He cocks his head, voice deepening. “My date.” I felt my belly flutter with excitement and also nerves. “Your plus one?” He nods. “There’s a fundraiser dinner. Bratva business that involves powerful faces and important investors.” Just from hearing the word ‘Bratva’, my stomach twisted into knots as the contents of the flash drive flashes into my head.
