Running Away with Alpha's Baby Bump
The temple shook violently, dust falling from the cracked ceiling as the breach outside pulsed again but closer now, the Devourer’s presence heavy and suffocating like the shadow of a planet eclipsing the moon.
I rose slowly, feeling the goddess coil through my veins. Silver light gathered along my skin, burning with a cold, ancient fire. My pulse matched the rhythm of the altar, of the breach, of the Devourer’s slow, deliberate hunger.
“You don’t have to do this,” Kael said weakly.
“Yes,” I whispered. “I do.”
I stepped toward the entrance.
The moon flickered.
The air thinned.
