In his time as a True Crime writer, Byron had interviewed many people, many of them disturbed or troubled in some way. "That's not how you acted when you broke off our engagement. Now that you need me, you've come crawling back?" Vivian slapped herself across the face several times. "I didn't cherish you when I should have. I didn't know what I had until it was gone. It's all my fault. I'll do anything to make it up to you!" I scoffed. "No need, Ms. Saddler. Please leave. I already have a girlfriend. Kindly see yourself out." Seeing that Vivian remained kneeling on the floor and was unresponsive, I called for security to have her removed.

"Sorry. Larissa suddenly felt a little sick. I had to take her to the hospital. We'll have plenty of anniversaries in the future anyway. After Larissa leaves tomorrow, I'll do anything you want, okay?" The concert finally started. The music drifted through the stadium, soft and melodic. I closed the messaging app and, for the first time in a month, opened social media. A photo Larissa had just posted popped right up—it was her selfie with Jeff at the concert. The music continued, as if mocking me for still holding out hope for him when I agreed to the concert and during the journey here. And now, that tiny hope was completely gone. I stopped and looked back, puzzled. Seeing the complete lack of recognition in my eyes, Sarah finally broke down, tears streaming down her face. I frowned, got into the car waiting by the curb, and left without hesitation. In the rearview mirror, Sarah's figure, crouched by the roadside sobbing, gradually shrank and disappeared.

A hollow, distorted smile stretches across my peeling lips. "Perfect..." I whisper into the quiet room. I turn back to face the mirror, staring deeply into the eyes of the broken girl looking back at me. For the absolute last time, I force a trembling smile to my lips as a hot, heavy tear spills over my lashes, tracing a slow path down my pale cheek. For the last time, I bear witness to my own shattered soul. For the final time, I vocalize the bitter, agonizing truths that have taken root in my mind.
