… The next morning, Celeste woke up to find herself alone in bed. After freshening up and changing, she went downstairs. Martha was already awake. When she saw Celeste, Martha was about to say something when Trevor walked in from outside. He was dressed in gray workout clothes, his hair damp with sweat—he had clearly just finished his morning run. He glanced at Martha and greeted, "Morning." Martha looked at the two of them and suddenly seemed unhappy. "You both woke up so early?" Celeste found the remark strange. Wasn't waking up early a good thing? Why did Martha seem upset?

We walk inside, and it shuts behind us. Six clicks the buttons and we start climbing 200 floors above. I’m clutching my purse with my sweaty palms. My heart is drumming wildly inside my chest. What am I even doing here? To hear him tell me more lies? To give him the satisfaction of watching me break one last time? Or to finally look him in the eye and show him that his broken little ex-wife is gone, and the woman he can’t shatter is standing right in front of him. We keep speeding up endlessly and I heave out the loudest sigh.

He looked terrible. Hair wild. Face gaunt. Eyes hollow with exhaustion and rage. Scratches on his face from running through wilderness. Clothes torn and dirty. "Hello, Bethany." His voice was hoarse. Barely controlled. "I know you're watching. Know you think you've won. You set your traps. You caught Jessica's mercenaries. You protected Emma. Very clever. Very impressive."

Chapter 36: A New Dawn As the first light of dawn began to break over the horizon, Emilia, Ryder, Luna, and Asher emerged from the depths of the forest, their spirits buoyed by the sense of unity and purpose that had carried them through their recent trials. All around us in the wind women and mens shrill whines and cries makes my blood run cold. “One down, more to go.” Athale says with grim satisfaction as she walks to Dawn, a pleased expression on her beautiful face. Dawn grins at her, as an explosion makes both of us fly into the forest. Dawn hits a three, and momentary blackness overcomes our senses.

I couldn't find find my mobile or my nightstand. I panicked and opened my eyes to look around. The bright sun shining from the window onto my face and eyes made me close my eyes due to the brightness. I adjusted my eyes to the brightness and opened my eyes to see that it was not my house, it was the fucking hotel room where we... Everything what had happened yesterday came back to me like scenes in a movie, I remember I was drinking too much then I saw....
