Dara’s eyes opened due to the bangs of the alarm. The brightest rays of the sun entered the room and the cool breeze coming from the half opened window lifted the curtains made of fine cloth up in the air. “Uh another boring day!” sighed Dara as she got up from the bed. She moved towards the calendar on her wall and crossed 14th May on the calendar with a marker, “Just four more days to go.” She ran downstairs to the kitchen to have her breakfast, “Morning Mom! Morning Dad!” she grabbed up an apple.

I mumbled and jerked my fuzzy blanket over my face, not wanting to be woken up fully just yet. “Mrs. Blackmore has been awake since seven this morning ready to start yalls mother and daughter day. It's now nine, and she has been waiting for two hours, allowing you to sleep longer, but it's time for you to get up now,” she informed me before walking across my room, and doing the same thing with my other window blind. “Too much light,” I hissed, when I felt the sun beating down against the thin blanket. “I'll be down in a little while.”

Lyra I pushed the door open and stepped into the morning. The light was the first thing. Not full daylight yet, not the clear bright kind that comes when the sun is properly up and has committed to being present. The sun was still low, still working its way above the eastern wall of the academy. But after hours under the artificial light of the hearing hall, the outside light felt real in a different way. Not managed. Not arranged for a purpose. Just there because it was morning and mornings come whether you are ready or not.

“I am looking forward to finding out.” I looked at him. At the Alpha who had been unmade and remade and was looking forward to finding out what he chose in the clean ground. “Me too,” I said. We drove in the quiet of the first morning of the beginning. Blackthorn packhouse appeared on the horizon at the specific hour of the morning when the light was fully committed to the day. Chapter 31: The Uncharted Blank The morning sun was climbing higher over the upstate estate. It was completely erasing the shadows of the previous night's storm. A brilliant light poured through the windows of the studio. This light was reflecting off the mahogany desk and casting a warm glow across the room. The server stacking down the hall was humming quietly. It was a pulse that signaled absolute security and perfect optimization across their global network.

DANIELLE'S P.O.V. The early morning sunlight licked its way mutely through the closed beige curtains which covered the length of the windows in my bedroom, and fell on to my face. I squeezed my eyes shut in order to block out the tiniest hint of the dull light, much preferring the dark of the night to the morning light.

Fuck, my head hurts! I opened my eyes to find that I was in a dark room. Which I guess is a good thing. The last thing I would want right now if a bright ass light shining in my face. It took a few minutes for my vision to come back into focus and for them to adjust to the darkness. I could hear other people, but I could not make out who or where they were. I sat up trying to get my barring's. My head did not agree with my quick movement nor did my stomach. At that moment I was glad that I had not ate anything recently. My stomach was rolling like the damn ocean!

I wiped the sweat off my forehead and I turned on the lights. When I glanced at my phone it was only 2.am in the morning. It was just a nightmare. I sighed deeply and slumped on the bed. Music slowly playing in the background. Lara recalled the cluster of security men converging on the helipad, blurred glimpses of an incredibly large white villa, and heat that only increased the nonstop pounding behind her temples. Jet lag had finally caught up with her. A rueful grimace slanted her face as she gingerly slid out of bed to gratefully appreciate that the ground beneath her feet was no longer rocking. It was dark outside. Locating the bedside light, Lara glanced at her watch. “8 pm… Are you kidding me?” The housekeeper, at least Lara assumed the warm, matronly woman who had come to her assistance was the housekeeper, had been a merciful savior. She had taken charge, banishing Christophe and helping Lara to bed.
