Xavier settles next to me, one leg crossed over the other, his hand resting lightly on my knee—subtle, grounding.
I look at Tyler, then at Landon, and then back again. “I’m not going to make excuses,” I start, voice steady but quiet. “What I did—how I left—was wrong. And I’m sorry. You deserved better than that. You deserved the truth.”
Tyler doesn’t say anything. He just nods, once, eyes fixed on mine.
“My name is Jacob Turner,” I say. “My father’s the head of the Turner-Alcott legacy. The man who controls every AOB academy and hospital in the country. Including Ridgecrest.”
