Chris’s arms tighten around me catching me as I fall unable to keep myself up right from the pain. “What’s wrong?” Panic evident in Chris’s voice. “It’s breaking” Is all that I say barely over a whisper. I don’t know how I knew but that pain was the bond beginning to break. Everything just goes black.

She was devastated by her mother's death yet she needed to be strong for her son. "Austin James put the glass down or it'll break again!" She exclaimed while stopping her son from playing with the glass. He giggled and placed it down. "Sorry, Mama." She smiled at her son's baloney. She knew it wasn't a sincere apology but she didn't want to scold him. After all, he was a cheerful kid. "Aus, Uncle George will be here soon to pick you up so get ready after eating your breakfast." She announced. "Okay, Mama."

He broke down the moment the doctor took him to ER. "Shhhh shhhh Gabriel. It’s okay baby. He will be fine. You have to be strong to hold her Gabriel. He must be traumatized. He was abused and almost raped and that too in front of his dad. He would need you Gabriel. You understand"? He was patting his back and opened his other arm for Win who was in pain for his brother. Bright came forward and took Gabriel in his arms taking him to sit on the chair. It took almost 3 hours when the doctors came out.

The pain in my lower abdomen felt unbearable, but I tightened my grip on that half-hand. "He's never coming back," I said icily. Zach's face went grim. He shoved me, causing Shawn's hand to slip from my grip and hit the ground. "Celia Swain, are you trying to stand up to me?" He blocked my path, his voice cold. "You need to get Shawn here to apologize to Sue, got it? "Just think about it. They can reattach Shawn's severed hand if they treat it in time. But if he doesn't apologize and misses the surgery window, he could end up disabled for life!"

It was fractured. And now? We were ready to break it.

Liam must've burnt him pretty bad. Below the patch, his cheekbone is sunken as if it's shattered and poorly healed. His nose is crooked, slightly twisted to one side. I can see his deformed right hand hanging limply at his side, the fingers curled into a claw-like shape, with no sign of life.

“OK.” “OK, well… in order from smallest injury to biggest: you wrenched your ankle, but it’s not broken. Your head is cut from the exploding glass from the car windows and windshields, so the bandages probably feel dramatic, but really, it was just a matter of a few stitches. Your face –” He cleared his throat. “You broke your left cheekbone when you were – when you fell. It’s as bruised and swollen as hell, but the break will heal on its own in a few weeks.” He paused again, and Vixen put careful fingers to the bandage on her face. Yes, it hurt like crazy, but she supposed that a broken bone wouldn’t ever feel pleasant.

I turn to look at him with all confusion all over my face. I heard someone clicked his tongue. “She’s not listening.” said Allie. Oh… Allie is here. "Okay, Aki listen. You have a simple fracture on your right arm, left forearm, and on your left leg, your left shoulder and left ankle is dislocated." He said. Allie raised an eyebrow at me. “Aki, tell us the truth. Did you go to a gymnasium? You have a lot of injuries!” he said. He was about to leave when he suddenly turned to me. "What I'm thankful at, you don't have any fracture on your skull. If that time comes, I’ll be the one who will break that skull of yours!” then left.

The boys gaped at me as if I had uttered some gibberish. “What’s a hairline fracture? I haven’t hurt my head or hair, Mom!” protested Adrian while the other two rolled with laughter. “Aunt Andy needs to rest her brain!” laughed Zane. “Have you been overworking, mom?” asked Zayden. “Stop! I’m serious, boys! A hairline fracture doesn’t involve the head or hair despite the name. It’s a tiny crack in the bone, as thin as a strand of hair.” “Oh! It sounds scary, Aunt Andy. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Addie until he’s better!” said Angel, dragging her brothers out of the room.

Through his eyes, I could see a reassurance that calmed me. "Alright," he began, and I braced myself. "It looks to me like your mate has several broken bones. She has a fractured arm—that is her humerus bone—a twisted wrist, some shattered fingers, and a few bruises here and there. As far as I can tell, she will be fine." Despite his tone of reassurance, each word struck me like a blow. I knew that this wasn't natural. It was pain deliberately inflicted upon her, and I seethed with anger at the realisation.
