The room was heavy with the tension of our words. The air crackled, a mix of desire, fury, and helplessness.

“I… I can’t deal with this right now,” he admitted finally, almost broken. “Not today. Not with this merger, not with Olivia, not—”
“Fine,” I said, hurt and furious, straightening my shoulders. “If you’re going to act like this, maybe I should handle the client alone.”
