“Y-you what?”
“I told him no,” Bryce said, voice firm now but still calm—no raised volume, just unyielding certainty. “A bond is not something to discard in a moment of pride or anger. It is not weakness. And it is not optional.” He leaned forward slightly, elbows on the table, his presence filling the space without crowding me. “You are his mate, Sarah. The bond was formed the moment you agreed to it. Hunter may have lost his temper last night—God knows, I’ve seen him snap before—but I will not allow him to throw that away like it’s nothing.”
