Bruce Banner X Reader Novels & Stories

"See? Melanie Rose." I nodded slowly. I was still very confused about why she had given it to me. I barely knew this girl and—not to be rude—I was far too popular for her to be talking to me first. "It's a fan-fiction," she explained. "You know, boy on boy?" I flipped through the pages. I came across a very detailed picture of Robin on top of Batman. In my mind, Maxxie was Batman and I was Robin. I smirked—I always knew that Robin was the dominant one in his secret relationship with Batman. John, I'm guessing, saw the picture and his eyes bugged out of his skull. He reached for the book and handed it back to Melanie.

My voice did not shake. The man tilted his head. He didn't have a face, just a shifting darkness where his features should be. "You can call me the Reader," he said. His voice sounded like paper rubbing together. "I am the one who pays for the ink. I am the one who decides if your story ends here or keeps going." Bryan stepped in front of me, his hand on his pistol. "He’s another code, Hazel. Don’t listen to him." The Reader laughed. It was a dry, thin sound. "A copy thinks he has a choice. How cute."

The warmth of his lips sent an unexpected shiver through her, but her heart felt conflicted. Bruce was off. Something wasn’t being said. After the encounter, Damian wasted no time in tracking down Bruce. He found him leaning against a wall in the courtyard, lighting a cigarette. Damian didn’t bother with pleasantries. He grabbed Bruce by the arm, dragging him into the shadows where no one could see them. “Why didn’t you tell Xander?” he demanded. Bruce exhaled a long trail of smoke before answering. “Because I didn’t want to get your ass burnt and your eyes plucked from their sockets,” he said, flicking ash to the ground.

Schemes: Lance barreled through Bruce’s bedroom door. His shirt torn in half down the center. He was breathing heavily and pacing. Bruce looked up from the book he was reading, eyeballing Lance waiting for him to explain his intrusion. “That girl.” Lance said, rubbing his nose as he walked. “Girl?” Bruce said, taking off his glasses and setting them on the side table next to his brown chair. “Nora. Jace’s mate.” Lance grumbled, turning to walk across the room again.

Bruce glanced at my outstretched hands before his lips curled up into a mocking smile and said, "Don't be delusional! She's mine!" I didn't dare to provoke him further for fear that he would do something dangerous to Rylee in her already precarious state, so I forced myself to calm down and said, "Fine. No matter who she belongs to, have you given her the antidote? You don't want her to die either, right?" Bruce chuckled eerily, then looked into my eyes and said, "How would you know if I wanted her dead or not? She betrayed me! Anyone who betrays me should die!"

> I got her answer. My heart is beating fast again, I wish I could see her reaction right now! I stopped on the stairs, I wasn’t expecting her to agree so easily. I felt a sense of relief and smiled slightly.

They waved as they climbed into the car. The moment the door shut and silence filled the hall, Lyra turned back. Bruce still stood near the console table, his hand braced on the polished wood as if he needed the support. His eyes were distant, locked on thoughts he would not share aloud. Lyra stepped closer, her tone softer now that they were alone. “You have always trusted Alex Benjamin, perhaps more than anyone. But Alec is his brother. Do you believe Alex is untouched by that bond?” Bruce’s brows drew together, a flicker of unease crossing his face. “What are you trying to say?”

Bruce cleared his throat and started to speak. "Brother, why did you make her your secretary?" Bryan raised a brow. "What's it with you?" Bruce gulped and answered back. "Of course, I would care about it. She is my girlfriend." "Ex-girlfriend," Bryan reminded him. Bruce shook his head. "No, brother. We had just broken up a little while ago, but I believe we will get back together soon." Bryan frowned at his younger brother. There was a clear indication that he did not enjoy hearing it. The things that Bruce had said to him did not sit well with him. He realized it was his wolf who did not want to share his mate with anyone else. Not even with his brother.
