She knew her longer hair would make her look even more like Carolina, but Carolina's hair was straight while hers was wavy. She soon found that brushing her hair felt soothing and relaxing, just like in the shower. She knew that the lack of kinks in the bristles she encountered meant that Xavier didn't have to continue, but he didn't seem to want to stop, and neither did she. She moaned in bliss, forgetting for a moment who was holding the brush as pleasant sensations coursed through her.

Here, let me do it for you.” Of course not with a brush but who cares? I give a mental eye roll. There is no use protesting so I resign to her. She combs through without difficulty, humming a strange tune as she works on my hair.

My Uncle adds. Mum nods and reaches into her bag, pulling her hairbrush out. With a heavy sigh she silently begins to brush my long honey blond waves, stroking my hair gently as she does. I notice a few more heavy sighs slip from her lips as she continues to work her way through my hair.

The slow, careful strokes surprised me. I had expected his strong hands to pull painfully at the tangles, but there was none of that. He worked through them gently, gathering my hair between his fingers once it was smooth. Then he began to braid it. I sat very still while his large hands moved through my hair, weaving the strands together with a tenderness that seemed almost at odds with the evening waiting for us.

I’m a good three inches taller than him so he needs the leverage. He starts brushing my hair and that wins the award for the weirdest thing that has happened today.

"Would you please hurry up, Gwen?" I made the final stroke of the brush through my hair, then I quickly bonded it with a blue ribbon, letting its long end to fall over my shoulder. Looking up myself in the cracked mirror and proud of my work, I hurried out to Hailey.
