With a delighted squeal, it dove headfirst into the pocket, emerging moments later with a mouthful of crumbs. "Ah, you want your snack first?" And then I found the abnormality the moment the mouse turned… it had two tails. “Huh,” I breathed. I leaned forward slowly, making sure my silk robe didn't rustle against the stone. I kept my voice a low, steady whisper so as not to scare it away. “Come here, little guy.”

You’re not cursed.” “But Bugs Bunny says kids without fathers are cursed by nature.” My brows rose slightly. “Who’s Bugs Bunny?” “He’s from the Space Jam cartoon.” “Really?” Maurice nodded. I couldn’t believe he actually took what some animated cartoon character said seriously. I pulled him closer and ruffled his hair. “That’s just a cartoon, my love. Never think of such things.
