I can't breathe properly. A lump is stuck in my chest. Holding onto my chest, I fall to the ground, whimpering until it turns into a wail, uncaring of who is watching or listening. I thought I had cried enough. Where the tears are coming from is something I have no idea about.

I blinked slowly. That one was harder to answer. “…Sometimes.” He watched me quietly for a moment before asking another question. “Have you experienced any sudden emotional triggers? Something that causes your chest to tighten or your breathing to change?” My fingers curled slightly in the blanket. “No,” I said softly. The doctor gave a small nod as he wrote something down on the paper in his hand. When he finished, he set the pen aside and looked at me again. “You are physically improving,” he said calmly.

I become distracted that I fail to notice their leader behind me. Sudden pain takes over my chest as if a knife is stabbed deep into it. As if someone is clutching my beating heart. I cannot breathe. I struggle but the feeling of blood pouring out my chest makes me unable to do anything. I fall to my knees mouth wide open tears streaming down my face. The sickening pain overtaking my senses. Placing my palm over my chest I seek my blood.

I needed to confide in someone. "Lord Ralph, please tell me about this deadly symptom you say you experience." I sat up. "Lately, I have been feeling like a fat man is sitting on my chest, but not in a very nice way." The doctor's brows furrowed as he took in what I had just said and tried to process it. "Do you find it difficult to breathe when this happens?" "No. This is not about physical pain or any pain of that sort. In fact, this is not pain. It does not affect my breathing or chest. It’s just... it’s just..." I stuttered off.

I turned the faucet on and let the tub fill with cold water. I dipped myself under the embrace of the cold water to calm down the iching that was on my skin. There were several red patches over the skin and the burning didn't stop at all. The cold water does ease the burning but not for too long. After spending a good time in the water, I stepped out and inspected the patches on my chest, some of them were blistering as if I was set on fire.

A worried frown on her face as she regards me intently. Something in me snaps. The sound ricochets inside my skull, and suddenly everything tilts. My chest thrums , a deep, strangling pressure that swells and won’t let go. I try to breathe, but the air won’t come, it’s like sucking through a straw that’s been pinched shut. My heartbeat slams against my ribs, fast and uneven. The edges of my vision blur, the room stretching and collapsing all at once.

ROSE My head is pounding and throbbing and it feels extremely heavy. My entire body hurts, but nothing is quite as bad as my chest. It is by far, the worst pain I have. It is so hard to breathe. And I can’t seem to move either of my arms. My left feels like it is tied up, but the right one has this nice warm tingling sensation moving up from my hand. It doesn’t feel tied up like the left, but like a weight is holding it down.

His breathing was becoming shallow, a distinct wheezing sound echoing in the quiet room. "Xavier?" I stood up, walking around the table. His eyes were wide, beginning to bloodshot. Hives were blooming across his cheeks. He gasped, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. "Heart… racing," he choked out. "Can't… catch my breath."

Swimming was one such lesson. I finally find my footing in the muddy riverbed and push myself upright, breaking the water’s surface with a gasp. I widen my stance, using a large rock beneath the water to support myself against the current. My lungs burn from the lack of oxygen and my chest is tight. The classic painful vice, slowly tightening around my lungs, alerting me to the oncoming asthma attack.

Nothing. Coming up, I breathe heavily. There was soo much.... blood...how...how can they vanish like this. And that's when I saw something bubbling....a few feet away from me.... bubbles escaping from the surface of water.... hope rising in my chest. "Soph! Soph!!!!"
