Finally he accidentally coughed and woke Alyne from her momentary daydream. Alyne shook her head quickly, trying to get rid of the various thoughts that came to her head. Then she looked back into Herrin's eyes. "Teach me to play basketball!" said Alyne firmly. The sky seemed to squint. Herrin seemed to squint. "You want to learn basketball with me?" Alyne nodded her head quickly. Herrin looked around, the school was deserted, only a gardener worker was seen walking around watering the plants.

His long dreads bounced in his ponytail. “Welcome back, Max.” I greeted him with a fist bump when he reached me. “Ready for senior year? How many notches will you get on your bedpost this year?” Max chuckled as he glanced at some rugger bunnies. Rugger Bunnies are the girls that hang around the rugby team. They aren’t fans. That would require knowing anything about the sport. No, a rugger bunny is a woman who’s down to fuck anyone on the rugby team.

She stood next to Miranda, who was standing very close to Tad, the greasy-haired (and also greasy-faced, Lauren thought) object of her affection who did not look at all like Matt Dillon. On the other side of Tad was his friend Billy, who also did not look like Matt Dillon and who seemed to have about as much interest in Lauren as she did in him—that is, none at all.
