I tried to push through each day, but the constant discomfort made everything feel heavier than it should. Presently, it was time for one of those annoying group study sessions with the triplets. These sessions always left me provoked and on edge. Their bullying had not reduced much, though sometimes they seemed more distant than usual, as if something else occupied their minds. I had maintained a great distance from Kaden as my mother had instructed, but he still crossed that line sometimes with his playful smiles and winks that made my skin crawl now that I knew the darkness hiding beneath them.

I’d had enough of that in my younger years, after all. “We’re step-siblings,” I answered, voice weak but enough for them to hear. “Step-siblings?” another girl spoke, scoffing. “As if we’d believe you. What kind of ploy are you up to? The Lancaster triplets are notorious Alphas here in the university, and they were known for flirting and fucking anybody, no matter who they are, as long as they match their standards. Is that some kind of kink or what?” I frowned. What kind of nonsense is she talking about? And why would I fake being a step-sibling with the triplets?

I stated and then hung up the phone. I thought he actually listened to me and didn’t bother contacting me. I never expected this. What did he want with my life? Was he back to ruin it all?
