Nathan bullied me in middle school and half of high school before graduating. I still remember how he used to steal the drawings I carried and flip through them without my permission. We watch and take notes like the rest of the class, until Tyler decides he’s over it. He nudges my arm lightly. I glance at him. “What?” Looking pretty proud of himself, he tilts his notebook slightly toward me. Instead of notes, there’s a badly drawn sketch of two stick figures. One is labeled You, and the other is labeled Me. The “me” stick figure is significantly taller. I bite down on a smile. “Don’t quit your day job, Brooks.” He grins, completely unbothered, and adds a tiny heart between them.

So, on one hand, I’m relieved that I don’t have to worry about not having books on my first day of class, but on the other hand, I’m nervous about how Caden might react. Back in high school, when he intentionally broke my laptop and I borrowed his as a replacement, he stormed into my lecture and threw a fit, claiming that I stole his belongings. He even called me a derogatory term in front of the whole class, fully aware that it could get him detention. Well, these days, Caden has upgraded to being a calm, emotionless bully. He no longer screams in my face like he used to. Instead, he launches his attacks with nothing more than a smirk.

But that wasn’t what he was drawing today. There was a picture of two girls—rendered crudely in crayon, but still identifiable as girls. One of them had short blond hair and the other had long brown braids. Their hands were on their faces and their mouths open in screams. David had drawn these as big black circles. A huge black shadow hovered before them, a shapeless body with red eyes and clearly defined hands. The hands looked like long silver knives. There were many drawings before this one. Lauren wondered how long David had been at it.

At that moment, my eyes spotted a drawing on the chalkboard. A caricature of me was drawn on the board with sticks for legs and chicken wings for hands. I knew it was me because there was a rash dotting the face and a giant pimple on the forehead. A small caption was written underneath it: (Beware of the gifts you receive, UGLY NIVIA).

Her belly button was tucked inside the muscle and that's where the drawing stopped. May scrunched her nose. This drawing reminds her of someone. Someone she doesn't want to be reminded of, Bella. Her eyes shifted to the next drawing which she found to be the worst. A woman and man having sex. No, it looked like she was being raped cause her hands were tied. May's stomach churned. She felt uncomfortable. Why does he have such obscenities drawn in his room? The third and fourth drawings she loved, however. She thought the artist had done a wonderful job drawing a rose that looked like it was dying with its leaves dropping to the floor.

Theodora opened the gray folder, where there were many papers in the same drawing pattern. Tessa noticed that Agatha always draws someone under a tree. And from a distance, she drew other people being together. Tessa tried to digest the meaning of the picture Agatha made, and instantly she understood what it meant. "Wait, do you know what my daughter's drawing means?" Tessa reached for one of Agatha's drawings, where it was clear that she had been bullied by her friends. "No, no. I don't understand, and I'm still trying to understand it."

Angel asked suddenly, causing Violet to raise an eyebrow. Angel looked at Alyne's back which was getting smaller in her sight, before a lopsided smile formed on her lips. "You are just an ordinary bully, but Aslan is a professional bully." Violet looked at Angel with an incomprehensible look. "No need to beat around the bush, give me the point." Angel chuckled at the impatient Violet. "You know what? The ordinary bully is playing something dirty, just like beating, kicking, and anything to hurt the victim." Angel's words made Violet frown even more.

One of the two boys put his hands on his hips arrogantly and with great panache. Lillian pursed her small cherry blossom pink mouth and walked straight to the boy. She reached for the drawing paper, but the boy pulled hard and the drawing paper immediately tore into two pieces. Lillian watched her ‘My Daddy’ that she had just drawn getting torn into two pieces and suddenly clenched her small fists. With a power that she did not know where it came from from, she grabbed the collar of the little boy who had taken the lead in bullying her and pointed at the torn painting as if she was saying ‘Return the picture to me!’.
