She smiled and walked ahead. Rebecca walked to the room. She put the dirty things in the basket and went inside the bathroom. Only to see Maya drenched in water completely. Maya is two years old. She would turn three years in twenty more days. She wanted to celebrate her birthday grandly but couldn’t because of the things that were happening. But she was happy as long as the people around her fine. She can celebrate many birthday with Maya. “Mommy…. Water ishh flowing,” Maya said with her puppy eyes.

Said Bi Em explained to me. I nodded my head, "it’s okay, 'kok, Bi Em, I'll get used to it too." "Forced by your girlfriend, huh? She is a really kind girl." When I wanted to answer Bi Em a question, my girl came back with someone who was immediately called, Mida, by Bi Em. "Here and there, Mida. I want to show you something that's really fun!" said my girl tugging mida at me and auntIe Em sitting down.

August 15th was the Harvest Festival. It was a day meant for reunions. But Amelia found herself alone. May had wanted to accompany her, but Amelia persuaded her to go back. "It's a holiday today. Her subtle expression could not hide her serious face at all, as Maya turned on the television with slightly furrowed brows. In silence, Maya continued to search for the channel that was broadcasting the latest news. Even though it has been five years since the meteor fell and changed the order of the world, Maya still clearly remembers the date when the meteor fell and various important events happen from her previous life. Maya tries to find the slightest information from her current surroundings. She had to know where she was, what year it was, and whether this world was really the same as the one she lived before or not.

I watched her lean in and say something I couldn’t hear and the girls giggled, the boy nodded, and one of them pulled out her phone. A few seconds later May was back at my side her grin even bigger than before “Got the address,” she said holding up her phone like it was a trophy “May-” “Don’t May me,” she cut me off. “You heard them. It’s a house party, this Friday night and we are going” “We don’t know these people,” I tried again “That’s the point. We will meet people and maybe the red-haired boy will be there,” she teased I opened my mouth to argue but nothing came out and she was already walking toward the checkout, swinging the basket in her hand like she had just won something

she trailed off with a shrug. “You want me to come with you?” I completed. May nodded once, looking very shy. “Alright, what time?” “12:45,” she replied. “It's the birthday of one of them and…our families are going to be there too, so…just um, I don't know, I hope you don't mind that.” I reached out and moved the bangs falling into her eyes aside, “it's fine. I'll come. Just text me the address and everything, don't worry.”

October 13, 2021 New York City Maya Luisa and I walked toward the waiting Uber in complete silence. Honestly? That was pretty normal for two girls running on zero sleep and pure adrenaline.
