Even Rhonen felt a surge of excitement. A single barricade had been set up across the road in front of the city hall building. The moment the Dawn Stalkers approached the barricade, the first smoke bombs were launched. Right on cue, plumes of smoke rippled down the line of invaders. Within seconds, all visibility was lost and the air was filled with shouts. Then there screams as my men started to pick them off one by one. A few shots rang out here and there, but none found a target from what I could tell.

Secrets have a way of coming to light, especially when someone like me is determined to uncover them. "You're bluffing," she snapped, though her voice shook. "Am I?" Tony chuckled darkly. The prairie is every bit as dangerous as the sea, and here, sharks hide in every shadow. The scent of smoke hits my lungs, and I slow, lifting my head to take a deep breath. Something is on fire. I cussed in my mind with a snort on my lips. Aleric held on to the throttle of his motorcycle harder, revving it a little to warm up the engines, “And I hope you won't regret this, bumblebee,” he smirked, looking over his shoulder to me who was behind him, settled on the bike like nothing was going to happen anyway.

That definitely wasn't clean. He threw that one away and picked another one. He sniffed it and it smelled just like the other one. He picked up a blue pantie and sent a prayer up to heaven before proceeding to sniff it. If it smelled just like the other two, he just might pass out. He sniffed it, but this one this didn't smell bad. She was going to have to make do with this. He picked up one of the black bras and and concluded that it was clean too.

I knew the secret now—but how was I supposed to expose it? Smash the wall open? No. That would only put me in the same humiliating situation as before, letting him twist the story and paint me as mentally unstable. He and the core designers would be working late, and I shouldn't wait for him.

“ You like what you see? “ He beseeched me with a ghastly smile. “ Screw you. “ I spat. Using all six horns like a cage to trap me, Beezebub caught me for half a second. The horns locked around my ribs, it pierced into my skin. I grinned, blood dripped from my lips, but my eyes lit like forges.

Bryce's voice trailed off when his eyes landed on the painting that lay on the desk. He stood up and walked towards it. Picking it up, he said, "Damien, look. This is the painting I talked about. He spent so much on it because it reminded him of a–" "Bryce shut up!" Blake quickly interrupted. "And what's that smell on you? Do you still smoke?" He asked, trying to change the topic. "I don't smell and I stopped smoking. Not after that fire. Even if I smoked, I still won't sell because I'd use a cologne." Bryce retorted, dipping his hands in the front pockets of his pants as he walked back to his seat.

"Who is that?" "I do not know." Trent reached for the door handle. "But I am going to find out." "Wait, maybe we should—" Trent never heard the rest of Brandon's sentence. Thick smoke suddenly erupted around their car, billowing up from nowhere and everywhere at once. It poured through the vents, seeped under the doors, and filled the interior in seconds. "Duck!" Trent shouted. "It is wolfsbane!" The guards immediately dropped down, trying to avoid breathing in the toxic smoke. Brandon covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve, but Trent could already see the effects taking hold. His Beta's eyes were watering, his movements becoming sluggish.
