Celeste was bawling so hard that her voice had turned hoarse. Tears rolled down Naomi's cheeks as she walked Celeste to the intensive care unit. The doctor informed them that he might never wake up.

The line crackled. Then the feed cut to black. The silence that followed was suffocating. Luca turned to me. “You said you buried him yourself.” “I did,” I whispered. He stepped closer, voice low. “Then what did you bury, Amara?” “The dead are patient. They wait for the living to forget.”

Third Person's POV Waking up with both of his mates draped across the Alpha's body, helped a little to ease the painful ache that laid ahead of him for the day. I tucked myself behind him, my body trembling uncontrollably. “You good?” he asked, brow pinched. “You’re shaking.” “I—I am?” I tittered. “It can’t be,” Tara whispered, pure shock cracking through her voice. “You’re dead. You can’t be alive. That's impossible.” Hayden turned toward her, jaw tight. “Hello, Mother.” She quickly raised the gun at him, shaking her head violently in utter disbelief. “No. No. No. I watched them bury you. I watched them lower you into the ground.” Her breathing turned erratic. “You’re dead. The dead don’t come back.”

“NO! IF ANYONE DESERVED TO DIE, IT WAS HIM, AND IF I COULD BRING HIM BACK TO LIFE JUST TO KILL HIM AGAIN, I FUCKING WOULD!” “So, if any of you think I should die, well, here I am, come here and kill me. And if I die, well, you get to bury me too, and if you die, then you’ll get a nice burial too. But if any of you spineless cowards break into my house, kidnap me, drag me off into the woods to try and hurt me or kill me, then I can promise you that a burial is the last thing you’ll ever get from me!”

"Just because I'm on financial aid, I'm not allowed to throw a party?" My boyfriend rushes to comfort her and turns on me instead. "Your family's loaded anyway. Spending a little on Lacey isn't going to kill you." Sure, my family has money, but I'm not a saint, and I don't see why I should be footing her bills. I refuse to back down. I call the police to make her pay me back, but my boyfriend re

Anguish burned like concentrated acid, searing into the most guarded part of my consciousness, breaching the lifelong barrier I kept suppressed in the far corner of my mind. "Quick, bury her!" "She's still alive!" "Truly a vile creature of sin!" White spots of agony crowded my vision. With a lurch, I puked a mouthful of blood, and sunk into a web of nightmare. ... "Shhh...don't wake up the pack." "Don't worry, everyone's asleep. Move your hands, dig deeper. The hole should be deep enough to suffocate her to death!" "This should be good enough. Quickly bury her!"
