He settled into a long vigil, determined to be there for Kaerlia every step of the way on her journey to recovery, no matter how long it took. ~~~ The Moon Palace was a breathtaking sight to behold. It stood upon the surface of the moon, gleaming with an ethereal luminescence that cast a gentle, silver-blue glow over the lunar landscape. The palace seemed to merge seamlessly with the moon's natural beauty as if it were a part of the celestial body itself.

Lola replied, raising her voice to be heard over the din. "C'mon, let me show you around," Carter suggested, guiding Lola through the crowded room. Lola's crush on Carter was obvious, and from the way he held her close, it seemed he felt the same. You couldn't blame him; Lola was the epitome of beauty. Her flowing blonde hair cascaded down her back, her big blue eyes were captivating, and her slender yet perfect body commanded admiration. As a baby she was offered many modelling gig that just showed how attractive she was.

I called upon the Moonveil energy—the deep, cold, crystalline power that had been dormant for three millennia. I pulled it from the earth, from the river, and from the very marrow of my bones. The bridge exploded with white, silver light. It wasn't an explosion of heat; it was an explosion of presence. The air grew heavy, thick with the scent of ozone and ancient sovereignty. The silver light wreathed my body, lifting my hair, turning my eyes into twin pools of liquid mercury.

I followed the path, and soon it spilled out onto the Standing Stones. Seven stones stood in a circle, and mosaic tiles had been set in a circular fashion to the center, where the image of the Moon Goddess was etched on the center circular tile. The gray stones were illuminated blue in the bright moonlight. Everyone stood around the outside of the circle holding their candles.

The once full blood moon is starting to become a waning gibbous. I always preferred a waxing gibbous. My chest is tight and it feels as if something is trying to claw its way out. I look away from the window and instead sit on my bed and stare at the ceiling. I barely slept because of the strange feeling.

I could mind link them but I didn’t want to be rude. One shifted back and cupped his hands in front of him in a form of modesty. Seeing as I was to be Luna I supposed he didn’t want to be rude to me. He was young, not someone I recognized either. He had a charming baby face and bright green eyes, even in the dark. He wasn’t much taller than me but there was evident muscle tone in his lean frame.

On top of that tonight was the night of the moon. It was said centuries ago that this very night the full moon lights up the whole sky. The specialty about the night of the moon was that it rises once every twenty years and is larger in size then the every month full moon. It is said that on this very day centuries ago the moon goddess has gifted a wolf to become human. Thus it is celebrated by all wolfs.

“I think even Elliott no longer believes it—and he’s only ten.” Elliot Calloway growled again. He was in the same class as I was. Calm, reserved, and kind, but he always followed his cousin, Drake, along. One minute he would sit with me at lunch, and the next, he would join this group to laugh at me. “No, no, I agree with Nathan!” Selene said excitedly. “The Moon Goddess can tell us who we are mated with.” “Boo-hoo,” mocked Drake. “But, well, it is better than being here. Full Moon celebration is boring.”

Alfred buttressed. “Wow!! That’s a great discovery. The moon can therefore not be called the earth’s twin,” Sarah said. “Yeah, you are right,” Alfred said. “Can we call the moon a luminous object?” Brown said. “I don’t think we can because the moon cannot produce its own light,” Smith said. “Really?” Sarah said. “Yeah; Smith is right. The moon gets its light from the sun’s reflection,” Raphael chipped in. “You guys are scholars, you know. Well, Sarah, Smith and Raphael are right because I read that too,” Alfred said.
