Caffeine Books Novels & Stories

This is black coffee, not a dessert. Serve at exactly 135°F. Too hot, and he’ll burn his tongue. Too cold, and you might as well hand in your resignation. The handle must always be facing him. If he has to turn the cup, you have wasted his precious time. Do NOT stand there waiting for a reaction. If he drinks it without a word, you’ve succeeded. If he glances up at you… please kindly meet me at my office to hand in your resignation. Honestly, as I read through the book, I realized I probably wasn’t the first to be given this, and there had been many others before me. That only made me more nervous because it meant plenty of people had been fired despite having this goddamn book.

He ended the phone call and rushed outside. From the office floor to the second and first floor, he was not only warmly greeted by his friendly staff but was also welcomed with a busy sight. Outside, Mitch gestures down the street. "There's a little place down the road I sometimes stop for coffee." Without giving her a chance to refuse, I take the bag of books from her. "Let me carry that for you." The 'little place', a small cafe, is mainly occupied by student types. They sit in groups, wearing bohemian clothes and cheap gothic jewellery, arguing loudly. It's not quarrelling, but debate of the kind you get from the types that think they know the secrets of the universe, or they can put the world to rights by talking about it.

I ask ashamed of not having listened to what my boss was telling me. Christian watches me for a moment as if to read my thoughts before speaking again: "I was asking you, what do you drink in the morning then?" "A juice, usually orange, sir. I always have toast with cheese and jam for breakfast and I only accompany it with juice," I responded with details, still thinking about Luis. "I don't like caffeine, it gives me a headache." "You are doing well. Caffeine is not healthy at all. Do you smoke?" he asks without taking his eyes off me.

10- 9 am talk Athena took a sip from her coffee mug, savoring the rich aroma that filled the air. This was already her third cup of coffee, and it was only 9 am. The caffeine coursing through her veins fueled her determination as she prepared for the day ahead.

Zivah smiled, “Let’s go someplace where we can read and eat and stay for hours.” “The Book Café.” I said excitedly, it was our favourite place to hang out. It was a beautiful café with all junk food available and books kept in shelves and wooden tables and chairs to sit, sort of like a library with food. And it felt amazing just being there, the peace and ambiance. “Oh manh, I can’t come.” I muttered sadly, remembering that the hacking just happened yesterday and there is still no trace of catching the hacker. “I have to go to work.”

Not specifically because she sent me these, but since she was a store manager for the bakery, I was sure she was more than capable of affording the cost of her son’s surgery and help him have a speedy recover. “Here you go.” I set the tray down on the coffee table and handed him his black coffee. “I hope you like it.” “Caffeine is a must to get me going,” he spoke the magical words. “I can’t properly wake up if I don’t get my daily caffeine. This is my third cup.” “Wow! That’s a lot!” I blinked in surprise. “You should still slow down though. Too much of it isn’t good for your health.”

It was the kind of place where time felt slower, like nothing bad could reach you here. We found a booth in the far corner, next to a window fogged up from the heat inside. I slid in first, propping the book up beside me like it was a friend tagging along. Christian raised a brow. "Seriously, you're bringing that thing into a date with caffeine?" "First of all, it's not a 'thing.' It's history. Insight. Knowledge. Second, this isn't a date." He chuckled as he took the seat opposite me, unzipping his jacket. "You keep telling yourself that, nerd."

I needed caffeine to kick start my day. The real reason? Delay. Pure, calculated delay. The longer I stayed out, the slimmer the chance of running into him. I ordered my coffee, found a quiet corner table, and pulled out that novel I’d been trying to finish for the past three months. A romance, ironically. One of those slow burns that reminded me a little too much of my current reality. I read a few pages, sipping slowly. The coffee was good. Too good. I considered ordering a second cup.

“Gemma mostly drinks coffee. But times like this she’ll drink coffee.” “Times like what?” Larin struggled to understand Evan’s words. “Little sleep and a busy day. There’s a chemical in coffee that helps a person speed up the waking up process and become more alert. We call it caffeine. So, it’s a popular morning drink, and some people can only survive if they can drink it regularly throughout the day.”
