Caleb POV From the beginning I felt odd, like I was a penguin in the race of robots, only alive being in the pack. It all happened on my 5 birthday. My parents were too cold, even my twin sister was too cold towards me, towards everyone. But showing no emotions in River-stone was normal. My parents were the last couple in the pack who had found their mate, after that no one had found their mate and they all were normal about it. It was my 5th birthday night when I was in deep sleep. I heard whispers, strange whispers in my head, it was familiar with the mind-link but it was eerie. I have never felt fear, never cried before that night, but that night and that voice changed something in me.

“Well, I’m glad you remember that. But why haven't I seen you around since I came, and what are you doing back here?" Caleb stepped closer, glancing nervously toward the door. “I hide here sometimes because the other kids don’t really like me.” My smile faded. “Why?” He hesitated. “Because I was born without a wolf.” That made me pause. “You… what?” I had never ever met a male without a wolf even though I heard rumors that such individuals existed. "You never had a wolf?" I asked again to confirm. He gave a small shameful nod. “Yes, I’m an omega,” he muttered. “But a boy which is very abnormal here. So people think I’m cursed and the children make fun of me sometimes.”

“He came from the west coast. He left his pack when he was 18, on his own accord.” “Why?” I asked without thinking. “Sorry, it’s none of my business.” “Actually, it is. You are the Luna of the pack, so you should know the heart of our people,” he said, but I saw a shadow in his eyes, so he probably linked Caleb about it. “He doesn’t mind it,” he added. “Caleb is the second son of an Alpha on the west coast. There were some complications during the pregnancy, and his mom died while giving birth. His father nearly went mad with grief, but he really tried to keep going for the three kids,” he started with the story.

His eyes were full of a dark, hollowed-out grief. "My father did this," Caleb said. His voice was flat. Dead. "My blood is poison. I’m the reason you lost him." "Caleb, don't—" "I'm the Anchor, remember?" Caleb stepped between us. He grabbed the Construct’s head with both hands. "You said I could take the overflow. You said we were a single organism." "Caleb, what are you doing?" I tried to pull him back, but the Construct lashed out, pinning me to the floor with a massive paw.

With the spotlight now shining on him, he threw his arms up, grinning widely as his teammates engulfed him. “He’s more than that,” I mumbled, not caring that I sounded ridiculous. “You’re just being obsessed.” She groaned, chewing noisily on her popcorn. She always chewed noisily whenever she was brewing something stupid in her head. Just like I had thought, she shifted her gaze back to me and with a hand resting under her chin, she said, “I told you about Caleb, remember? He asked about you again.” “And unlike Nate freaking Lincoln, Caleb is actually normal. He studies Computer Engineering like us, and doesn’t think the sun rises and sets with his own ego.”

"Then you can't understand anything I'm saying. I think that little girlfriend of yours has eaten your brain. That reminds me. I have to speak to Peggy." At the mention of Peggy's name, the hairs on Hunter's skin stood still. "You mention her name again and I'll add you to these dead bodies," he growled. Caleb was excited. Perhaps if he beat Hunter, he could earn his respect. "Why don't we settle it? I already said I love her. You don't seem to. Just leave her for me." He began to taunt Hunter again. The agents from the cleaning team arrived so Cathan pulled Caleb aside and asked in a whisper after removing his gloves.

He looked at Caleb and asked, "What is your name? What is your model?" Caleb answered accurately, "Caleb Clemon. Educational Robot." "Who is your user?" "User settings. My mother is Hilda Adams. My father is Nathan Clemon." Connie pulled his brows together. Your first master is a woman? "What is your mission?" "Protect Mom." Connie thought, I'll take him apart again and make some changes, then restart him and test him again. He disassembled him once more, put on safety glasses, and welded in a new part inside of Caleb.

Clothes rustled and Frost’s sickly sweet voice drifted near. “I know you’ll be gone the moment Luna wakes… but I just hope she wakes soon, so she can properly handle her duties as Luna.” “No,” Caleb said coldly, gripping my chin hard enough to hurt. “I don’t need a mate who would threaten my position. She just needs to stay the perfect Luna—lying here in silence, scaring off rogues with her name, but never stealing my spotlight.” My stomach twisted and my throat burned, but thank goddess, after all these years without food, there was nothing left for me to throw up now.

She whispered and added, “or else I will make sure your so-called friends will suffer at the orphanage,” “You are too young to be bullies.” I heard Caleb’s remarks and pulled Cali’s shirt. “You are soon to be a man. Be a gentleman and apologize,” he said, glaring at Cali. “Who are you? I am rich—” “I don’t care,” Caleb interrupted Cali before boasting about the money and powers he gained from his new parents. Cali grabbed his pocket and dialed a phone number on his smartphone. “Someone attacking…” He hangs his words when Caleb gets his phone in seconds. We all blinked our eyes multiple times. I gulped down as my jaw dropped. Did he have strange abilities like me?

Scarlett had promised Caleb. Caleb sat opposite her, his War-Form dissolved back into his human skin. He wore a simple black shirt, his sleeves rolled up to reveal the silver-gold tattoos that were now as steady as a heartbeat. He was staring at the bubbling pot with a mixture of confusion and hunger. "So," Caleb said, his voice a low, warm rumble. "I’ve conquered a fortress, killed my 'father', and claimed a starship. But I still don't know how to eat this without burning my tongue."
