Chapter 1: The Call Back The call had come at 4:03 a.m. EST, its icy intrusion cutting through Luca Vitale’s meticulously ordered life like a dropped stiletto. He hadn't bothered to check the screen; only one number, one voice, was capable of carrying that particular gravity.

“The landline is at the superintendent's office and yes, I know the Villa number.” “Lead the way,” Calla instructed They moved with speed. **** Calla dialed the line and it was picked by Alpha Dominic himself. She trembles not knowing what to say. “Hello,” the voice came “I called to tell you that I'm fine and got your message from Gamma James,” Calla said quickly, not knowing what she was going to say next. “That is great. How are you?” Alpha Dominic asked. Calla became sweaty. She does not have the right words to use in response. She was lost in thought for a minute

The little circle spun and spun and gave up. Call Failed. Right. No service all the way out here in the mountains.

I find Jaxon's number. And I make the call.

👶👶👶👶👶 I'm packing to go home when I receive a call from Ren. That's weird. A call from Ren? I quickly pick up. " You need to get here NOW!!! " 😶😶😶😶

"I bring Ms. Collins business, and she brings me someone to play with. Where's the problem?" She grabbed my throat, her other hand reaching for my clothes. "Relax, young man. I'll help you change." My phone slipped from my pocket and hit the floor. The call was still connected. Young Edmund had heard everything. I could hear him panting, like he was running. "Wait for me. I'm coming!" he screamed into the phone. Lydia's hand closed around my belt. As her grip tightened on my throat and the air cut off, my vision washed out in white.

I got in my car. I had a phone call to make.

My thumb hovered over the call button. And I pressed it.

Me: "Hey, babe, sorry had to make a call." Ann: "It's fine." She said , still giving me attitude Me: "I called my assistant. He'll be there shortly with two bodyguards. They'll bring your dinner." Ann: "But, baby, I'm not hungry." Me: "I know. Have you showered yet?" Ann: "No, not yet." Me: "Okay, go shower. I've already had mine. I'll stay on call and wait for you." Ann: "But I don't want to get up."

I can sense his breathing stopped when the first ring was heard. "It's ringing." he said and handed me the phone. I took it quickly and put it on my ears. I'm not sure what I'll say but it's clear that I want information from him. My hand is slightly trembling as I wait for him to answer. A few rings and Titus picked up the call. "Hey again." "Titus, it's me." I said in almost a whisper. I'm afraid Aurea can hear our conversation and I needed to be careful with my words.
