The sun barely peeked from behind the grey veil of clouds as Calla stood at the edge of the she-wolves' encampment. Behind her, the warriors were cleaning up after the storm. Though the rain had passed, its presence lingered. The earth was super damp.

Calla took one last look at the camp. It wasn't perfect, but it was beginning to feel like something solid. It was finally feeling like home. She turned toward Matt and nodded. “Let’s go back.”

“Now?”

“Yes”

“Samantha the floor is soft enough for tilling. Let's start building solid houses for you all. I will be leaving today, I have something to do and will get back soon to check. Keep the energy up and don't relenting your deed”

The journey to the male warrior sector was long, not because of the distance, but because of the weight Calla carried with her; concerns, questions, and a quiet storm of fury.

Brin, Claire, and Oda followed behind, each reflecting in silence. Even Matt, who usually filled the air with steady small talk or dry

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Calla was uneasy.

Calla was uneasy. She knew there is a lot at risk and that way, she has a lot to protect actually. Although she wants to know the truth, she was skeptical to see Gamma James. She doesn't even know if he could talk properly. The view she saw earlier was too scary for her to say she wants to see again and the nurse cleaning up sounded too fast. Not knowing what to do, she stood at the superintendent office for a while deliberating her thoughts.Matt noticed she was hesitant not because she has something to do here but probably because she doesn't want to go out and see Gamma James in a vegetative state.“Should I check if he is in the condition where you can see him?” He asked her.“I didn't say I can't see him. Why do you make it seem as such?” Calla asked in defense “I know you want to see him, however, you are dragging seeing him because you understand perfectly well what it means and feel like to be in the state he is in even if you might have not been there. You just don't think

  • Alpha’s last choice.   The nurse left.

“What do you intend to do?” Matt asked“Wait as said,” Calla responded.“I do not mean to interfere in your thought process but I don't see you waiting and I feel the content of the letter is beyond what you mentioned. You can't panic over something like that,” Matt said“What are you insinuating?”“I will just appreciate it if you can actually talk to me about the things that are really in the letter. If there is anything threatening, we can fix it.”“Matt, you need to know that I am capable of dealing with things my own way. What will I gain from lying to you and should there be anything in the letter that I withhold, it must be for the best. I don't like how you are questioning all I do. I know you are looking out for me but you need to deal with your insecurities,” Calla said defensively “I am sorry if I upset you. It is not in my intentions to. I just don't want you feeling alone in this period. There are chances that things might not work the exact way we want it to and I don't

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Discussion with Samantha.

The discussion between Calla and Samantha was like the only thing she needed to function well. Her reasoning was clear as day and she started thinking about strategies that could work.If she was Harper, what she think Harper will do especially based on their history together. Her thoughts went down to how Harper will mostly handle if she was the one in that situation. From the Harper she knows, “Don't always rush to me in times of trouble, give me some time to think it through,”Calla knew that's exactly what she was going to say however, there's a bone of contention in her mind, if Harper believes she's grown enough to wait or still see her as impatient.Calla told Samantha, “I usually would have find my way into the Bloodfang Pack by now if it was some months ago. Harper might still view me from that point of view,”“If she has stayed with you the past days at the Villa, you might not know but she must have picked on some habits that you are most likely or to exhibit anymore. That

  • Alpha’s last choice.   She is really a great friend.

Calla was lost in thought. The waiting time seems so short but it rings volume in her ears every second that tick is a toil for her as she can only assume everything is fine even when a large part of her is saying otherwise.Samantha noticed she was trembling as they walked. Her steps were heavy and it was unusual. Samantha moved close and gave her a pat on the back to show that she was not alone in the Battle, she was there with her and that was all she needed to get past these trying times.“I know you might not find so much joy in talking to me and I can't fill the void you have right now but I sure understand what it means to not have someone in your life. What it means to be so unsure about the safety of a loved one,”“Do you have a friend?” Calla asked“Yes, I do, why did you ask?”“i just want to know if you understand the bond that is shared between strangers who grew up together to become sisters although they call each other friends,”“I do know that feeling and I can tell t

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Let’s read the letter.

Everyone gathered round, it was like a game of I want to know what happened.Though Calla was disheartened, she did a great job in calming herself eventually.“You don't need to worry, the letter was addressed to me and I must carry it out myself,” Calla declared, closing the letter and putting it back into its envelope.“I know it's yours to carry out, however, we need to know so we can also be of help. I believe there will be instructions in the letter which is the usual way of Alpha Gideon. We are warriors and we know how he operates to a large extent,”“There were no instructions, he just made it clear that he was the disguised envoy that was willing to let go of the coalition he came for at our Pack just to be with me but I rejected him.”“What does he now want?” Helka asked in fear“He will not be attacking this Pack but he will keep Harper in custody till I know how well to act. That seems so funny to me but I guess that's what I have to face,”“You are not going to meet him ri

  • Alpha’s last choice.   Read the letter.

Calla's POVThere was a sharp pain in her heart when that was mentioned. She wished she could unheard it. She has been lonely and not a single day has she heard from Dominic. That pierced through her like a double edged knife. Truly our words could be a dagger and that was it in this case.“Did I say something wrong?” Helka said looking at how Calla sank into herself “Not at all. I just remembered something and I came to some realization as well,” Calla said trying to brace up.“I am sorry if I triggered emotions. That wasn't my intention at all.”“I know pretty well that you meant no harm. I should apologize for making you feel bad with my emotions”“You should never feel bad for expressing your emotions. It is one of your strengths, not a sign of weakness. Henceforth, I want you to trust your gut and be proud of how you feel,” Helka said, sounding like a mother would.“Thank you so much Helka. You've been a mother to me here and I am so glad I found you and all of you,” she said po
