A Debt of Vows
With my elbow on the table, I covered the side of my face with my palm, turning to face the other way.
“I know it's you,” The voice sounded closer now.
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath.
“It's okay, it's just me.” The lady said. How did she recognize me? Her voice wasn't familiar at all.
I sighed in defeat, turning to face her, my hand slowly lowering to reveal my face.
She looked like someone I had recently seen, but I couldn't recall exactly where. Sensing my confusion, she said, “It's Olivia.”
“Oh,” that was all I could say. I wondered why she approached me, was it to commend a job well done by her grandson?
