The Calm Before the Storm The air outside was thick with tension, a palpable sense of dread hanging in the cool night. I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins as Ryder led us into the shadows of the alley. Each step was measured, every noise amplified in the eerie silence that surrounded us. The weight of the moment pressed down on me, a reminder that the calm we were experiencing was deceptive—a mere prelude to the storm that was sure to follow. “Stay close,” Ryder instructed, glancing back at me as he led the way. I wanted to say something but was tongue-tied. "I swear with my life that no one would know you're here." The man hurriedly continued when he saw the frown on my face. "Fine, we'll stay," I frowned. "But then go and get the other two things ready," I replied a strange light flashing through my eyes. I was having a very strange feeling right now. It was a feeling of the calm ocean before the terrible storm. Once the turbulent wave began it would affect the whole ocean and everywhere would be in a mess.
