“That’s officially creepy.” “The ring is here,” Lucien murmured. “She sealed it inside.” “How do we open it?” “Blood.” “Of course it’s blood,” I muttered. “It’s always blood. Nobody ever tries passwords.” He turned to me, eyes glowing faintly. “You opened our tomb. You woke me. She listens to you.” I blinked. “She likes me because I didn’t scream. That’s not consent, it’s pity.” He extended his hand. “Lend me your blood, Miss Hale.”

I speak for everyone here, but I needed to say the words out loud for my sake as much as hers. “I know.” She reaches up and cups my cheek with her hand. Her thumb strokes my beard and the sensation of the hairs moving inside my skin sends goose bumps down my arms. Taking her hand in mine, I kiss her knuckles and turn it over, then guide the tip of the blade in her other hand until it is pressing into her finger tip and a ruby red drop of blood appears. I watch with bated breath as she writes her name in blood, in a magical book that looks like it has been around since the beginning of time, and ties herself to a seven hundred year old vampire. What could possibly go wrong?

For instance, there were three levels of shelves right there in the kitchen, holding up the dusty books that we did not get to clean earlier. I was going to ignore it and just go about my day, but my eyes caught something quite absurd. On the bottom shelf, just on the extreme right, there was a book about vampires. It was hard to notice at first but when I picked it up and blew off the dust, it became more obvious. On skimming through the book, it was just about the unique anatomy of vampires. But what piqued my interest was that everything in it looked handwritten and hand drawn. It was like the documentation of a person's findings on my species.

Cameron stepped around his father, making light of the situation, trying to take the tension out of the conversation, knowing that the Van Helsings would take what they wanted, one way or another. “Hmph,” Sparrow grunted through his nose in amusement. “I’m sure a f-king cookie can be arranged.” “Dad,” Cameron said soothingly. “Let’s give them the blood. What’s the harm?” “Chocolate chip,” Jules told Sparrow. “And a cup of juice.” “F-king werewolves,” Sparrow rolled his eyes but he gestured with his hand and one of the soldiers peeled off from the group heading to the doors of the gym. “We’ll do it by the door.”

Nancy is scary and good at lying; moreover, Nancy can read minds. "I'm telling the truth. I didn't know Lucia was half-blood," said Nancy. "Actually, I also just found out. Previously, I only read the first and last pages to find the cause and how to cure Lucia," explained Carlen. He placed Cassie's black book on the table. "If I knew Lucia was half-blood and her magic power was sealed, I would never have allowed Lucia to drink animal blood and come to the human world. But maybe this was part of destiny; with Lucia to the human world, Lucia met Alpha Orlando."

The thick, dark primordial blood of a century-old vampire welled from the deep cut. Brynn’s jade eyes flickered. Driven by her own fading strength and the desperate, triumphant internal screaming of Solar, her jaw parted. She bit down lightly on his wrist, her lips drawing the heavy, white-hot furnace of his primordial blood into her system.

We all knew we had entered a new era, and for the first time, we were truly the Blood Moon Pack. *This is the end of Book 1 of Blood and Moon. Book 2 Love and War.
