Sin That Binds
Heat bled into his skin with a low burn before a droplet landed on his palm.
Eli hissed loudly in the cavernous silence as another drop of wax fell on his palm. Then another. He squirmed, trying to ignore the burn as the spikes also dug into his skin, but the candles tilted.
No. No, no—
One of them slid off his palm, fell onto the floor and snuffed out.
He bit back a curse as Silas rose again, relit it, and set it back.
This went on for what felt like forever. Every few minutes, the wax would drip, hot and scalding, onto his skin. His arms shook. The scent of melting wax mixed with smoke and sweat. It clung to the inside of his nose, driving him absolutely insane.
