How come I hadn't heard of this big match till now. For Boston Kings, this wasn’t just another college hockey match. It was the match of the year for the junior category as the seniors were on an Away Match. And the captain, of course, was Ace. He's the Captain of the Juniors and Assistant, overall. I know he plays, but I didn't realise just how great he is. His face is everywhere on posters, on the campus website, even on T-shirts. It feels strange seeing him like this, smiling from paper, when I remember our last conversation. The cold look in his eyes as he made his offer, and the way my hand trembled as I was about to sign the contract in the silence of my room.

“Seriously? Where?” I lean back against the bench again. “Dallas.” A whistle cuts through the room. “Walker’s team.” Nash Walker was born to wear the captain’s C. The guy’s been dragging teams forward his entire life. Hardest worker on the ice and toughest guy in the room. He’s the kind of captain every player wants to go to war for. Everything he’s built? He earned it. I rub a hand down my face slowly. This isn’t just awkward. This is a damn explosion waiting to happen.

Alex dropped into the chair, stiff. The captain leaned back in his creaky seat, studying him like he was trying to read a messy report. Reeves was built like an old linebacker gone soft, gut straining his shirt buttons, gray hair thinning on top. Twelve years as captain meant he’d seen nearly everything. Alex used to find comfort in that steady presence.

The cold immediately seeped through my thin gloves. I managed ten before my hands slipped and I slammed chest-first onto the ice. The impact knocked the wind out of me, and I lay there for a second, the cold seeping into my bones. I could hear the muffled sounds of the team trying not to laugh. A shadow fell over me. Jax stood above me, looking down. "Get up." I pushed myself up onto my elbows, my pride stinging more than my chest. "Having fun, Captain? Is this your idea of team-building?"

He didn't respond, and merely pulled out a seat. “Sit down, Elissa.” I sat, without a retort. Did my perspective of him change because he was giving me something no one else did? Yeah, he was giving me a chance. “I am sure of your character, and I know you didn't steal it, trust me.” I nodded. There was no other choice. Handling everything on my own would be a disaster. But it was something different when it was the captain of the hockey team standing up for me. I groaned, pinching the bridge of my nose, “If you say this outside, you are going to get into trouble, Captain Myers.”

"Appletini, please...oh, I'm so sorry..." The sexy captain America look alike smiled but move back to give me some space and I bite my lip and smile at him. I was going all out wanting to get it over with while I could still see Gene on the corner of the room pretending to talk to some hot redhead woman. I was feeling insecure seeing the man beside me, thinking he could surely beat me up to a pulp if he's a straight homophobic guy. "It's okay, don't think I've seen guys ordered that in a while." Curtis Cuthbert was looking more and more straight as he said the words with his deep manly voice.

I smiled as they made their way back to their sparring partners. “You scared the shit out of them” Hector was laughing. “Keep it up and I’ll make you spar too Gamma.” I smiled back at him as he went stoic. I watched and helped for the next half hour. Individually going in and tweaking their stances or how they were moving. They seemed genuinely happy, feeling the difference and I was enjoying myself. Currently I was staring at the biggest member of the captain group. He was huge. Probably clocking in at 7ft and built like a wrestler. I stepped up to him and Godwin, who was blocking his punches.

I felt sorry for him, being a captain of a great football team entails a lot of responsibilities, commitment and expectations from what I've seen. "I really admire your strength and like you said 'you won't trade it for anything' So just keep doing your thing and enjoying it, cause there comes a time when you can't do it anymore, and I'm sure you won't regret it, okay?" I tried to be comforting and encouraging which I'm not good at. Ugh. I hope I made sense though. "Yea. Listening to you speak is a good feeling too" he said which made me smile and I felt a little hopeful

Hermosa POV "Hey, get her a bucket," the Captain ordered one of his men. "What's she going to do with the bucket?" he asked. "Piss in it, obviously," the others replied, laughing at the idea. The man brought the bucket. It looked big and heavy. I wasn't sure what the Captain was trying to prove with it. Nothing was ever going to make me leave. I stood firm, making sure to meet the Captain's gaze when he threw the bucket at me. I flinched in pain as it hit my chest — it was made of metal.
