"A peacock?" the Captain asked with an amused expression. The two turned around and continued walking the way they were before Ace came. "He obviously walks around flaunting his existence and thinking that he is above everyone else and that everyone must look up to him and treat him the greatest thing ever. I only just met the guy but he seriously needs to calm down. He is probably so out of touch with reality." Gwen rolled her eyes.

Aaron stalked forward and stared down into Knox's face when he came to a halt right on his toes. "Did it stimulate your taste buds? Mess with your mind?" Aaron's hands lifted as if it was aiming to touch Knox's face but he slapped it away and stepped out of the man's offensive pressure. He snarled then opted to ignore him then shifted on his heels towards the phone. He reached for it but he halted right as his fingers touched the screen. The shock was so overwhelming from the picture that none of them registered that this was their captain, giving them a show of his privates, a full-on nude. It was obscene.

When she wakes up smiling, the captain is overjoyed. The captain immediately apologizes to Annika, saying, "I am sorry you had to wait this long; please lay down in my bed and maybe we can watch the movie another time." Annika enters his bedroom while still wearing her uniform. She's not sure whether she can just lie down there because she hasn't showered yet after work. The captain then emerged from his bathroom with only a towel wrapped around him, revealing his toned chest and arms. He was drying his hair with a towel, looking gorgeous with just his smile and his towel.

Although he wasn’t the sharpest, if he was dull, he wouldn’t have become a captain. This was the first time ever that someone had doubted his intelligence – or called him dumb. “Let me spell it out for you,” Mane yawned and walked towards the path created for him by the open barrier.

I’d been holding onto that like a life raft. And Captain… I let out a humorless laugh and winced when it sent pain stabbing through my ribs. Calling him would be worse than calling anyone else. It might sound stupid—hell, it was stupid—but I saw a lot of myself in him. If you stripped away the arrogance and the smirk he wore like armor, Captain was a broken guy. Like me. But unlike me, I wanted him to have something better. Someone better. Someone in his life who could be a form of light.

“Tight but not stupid. Hair up. Two minutes.” Awkward sat in the room with us, legs crossed, watching. He did not look at me; he looked at the lamp, the chart, anywhere else. His jaw still held that notch. His hands were very busy with nothing. “Turn the key after,” he added, too quickly. “And use the coat until the shirt’s dry.” I stood there with cloth in my hands and the sea on my face and could think of six ways to make a joke and not one I could live with. The room smelled of salt and ink and him. I managed, “Aye.”

Rick challenged back. “I see you still don’t me?” the captain said with a cold smirk. “You are a necessary evil.” Rick said flatly. “You just like to disguise your true colors under a cloth of holiness.” “Whatever,” the captain looks towards a silent Aaron. He frowns has he senses something about the man. But he can’t place his finger on the pulse. He shrugs his shoulders calling his men. Aaron feels the sweat dripping down his back but he keeps his focus on the captain. This man had a look almost like a kind of familiarity. This quietly makes him wonder if the man might know who he was.

My chest tightened so hard I almost lost focus completely. I swallowed hard and stepped off the mat quickly before emotions could fully catch up to me. The rest of tryouts blurred together after that. By the time the judges finally returned with clipboards, everybody looked ready to pass out. One of the coaches stepped forward. “Captain position goes to...” She smiled slightly. “Iris.” The gym erupted immediately. Iris looked happy but not surprised. Because honestly? She deserved it. Then names for the squad started getting called one by one. Girls squealed. Some cried. Others looked devastated.
