I didn’t say anything and waited for him to explain what was happening. He moved from the door and entered fully. His casual voice followed. “Madam is exaggerating. You don’t need to be nervous.” Hannah snorted in response, but she didn’t retort. My lips pursed. “Jude is known as a fierce fighter in the pack. As someone trained personally by the Alpha, he is strong and has learned most of the Alpha’s moves.” I gaped. My heart jumped in awe. Benson chuckled when he saw my reaction.

“Since when do you voluntarily share me on our dates?” Jude just grinned, one sharp canine pressing down into his lip. He leaned lazily against the back of the Jeep, black hair tousled from the wind, scar catching in the light. The sun highlighted the swatches of ink along his arms. I itched to peel his shirt back and see the newest addition to his collection—the dove tattooed right over his heart. My dove. “Coven bonding,” he replied.

Like I’m a company stock performing poorly. I narrow my eyes. “You are getting Icarus for your little inconvenience.” “What if you can't get it back?” he asks, stepping closer. “You owe me. And it’s time you started paying me back.” He’s inches from me. I can hear his heartbeat. Smell his cologne—clean, dark spice, expensive, and infuriating. “I don’t understand,” I whisper. “It means,” Jude says slowly, “that tomorrow you start at Creed Industries. It means that for anyone watching us, we are madly in love. We are married. You’ll play your role—and I’ll play mine.”

I watched Jude look her up and down before he said, "Naw, we don't have sex." After that statement, Jude locked his eyes on me. Within seconds, I could feel the lust meter in this place reaching a boil. As women slickly tried to close in on us to shoot their shot at him, Rosaria said, "Okay, team, we're headed to the karaoke bar." Jude grabs my hand to help me out of my seat and escorts me to the parking lot. Now inside the car alone, I ask, "Why would you say that?" "Say what?"

His words cut deep, a promise I can’t doubt, ‘cause it’s Jude. We step into the light, and it’s… unbelievable. The sun’s warm, not searing, like it’s holding me. My light powers flash, a soft glow surrounding me, and Jude chuckles, this gruff, unusual sound that makes my chest tight. “Told ya, sunshine. You’re goddamn radiant.” I grin, whirling in the clearing like a fool, but then a vision hits again—temple, relic, Calix’s laugh. I stumble, and Jude holds me, his hands steady.

“Tell us what you want, Jude.” Jack’s lips parted. Then closed. Caden leaned forward from the couch, one elbow resting on his knee, a slow smirk playing at his lips. “He doesn’t know what he wants,” he said, eyes flicking over Jude’s trembling body. “That’s why he has us.” Lysander said nothing. Xaden stood. Jude’s breath hitched. Caden walked over to him, reached out and flicked open the button of Jude’s jeans the rest of the way. The zipper came down in a blur. Caden didn't push them off, though. He just let them hang dangerously low on Jude’s hips.

Xavier: I sat looking at the man who had given me his daughter years ago for an alliance. His eyes meeting mine, studying my expression, wanting to play the game of cards. “I trust that you came here with something to tell me, Marcus.” I said, raising an eyebrow. “Alpha Xavier, I did not think that the two of us weren't on first name basis.” he said, his tone smooth but empty. “I appreciate you seeing me. I would’ve preferred my daughter greeted me first, but I understand she’s… preoccupied. It seems that she has been that way for a while now. I called her but she rarely ever answers.”
